It's annoying that so many games can't be watched live if TNT or ESPN are broadcasting it so you have to pay for three services to watch the games.
can't watch any local games. Good if you follow a team that's not in your own city.
You can watch every game except your local team (it's based on zip code) and any nationally-televised game on ESPN and TNT. So look at Friday's schedule and let's say I live in Memphis. I can't watch the two ESPN games and my local Memphis game (they want you to subscribe to your local cable provider to watch that game), but that leaves 5 other games that I can watch. I think it depends on how much of a hoops-head you are, but most of the games don't look great except Orlando at Boston. That should be a fun game. Orlando is on the rise this season, and playing at Boston will be a great test for them.

If you're the type of person who wants to watch any basketball game even when there isn't a marquee match-up on or you don't live in the city your favorite team is in, then I think it's a no-brainer (especially at this price). Otherwise, you might be better off subscribing to the cheapest cable/streaming TV option to watch the nationally-televised games plus your local team.

I haven't purchased the season pass before. How limiting is this? How many games can you actually watch?

No playoffs.
This is only for the regular season.
For the playoffs I usually switch over to sling but youtube tv works too.

I think sling is slightly cheaper, at least it was last year

No Linux support cause they contracted Microsoft to handle their DRM to protect their streams. It's like they want us to use illegal streams.

Depends on your region also. If you live in NY for example, all Knicks and Nets home games are broadcasted on MSG/YES so those are gone. TNT/ESPN would probably make up about 1/3 of any remaining games.

I'd say this is a good deal for fantasy sports players or regular bettors for the wide coverage. For the average fan, this is a good way to throw away $50 and end up so annoyed you never tune in again.

League pass ads also come on with no regards to the actual game -- I've had ads pop up deep in the fourth quarter of a close game, once while a difference making shot was up in the air.

In your experience is the local restriction by-passable by VPN or do they check billing zip code as well?
