I picked this up around Black Friday, looks like the price has come down a little since then! This provided a good entry point for me into the world of audio separates. I use it to power my front LCR trio of Monolith THX-365; does a great job.

These amps are NOT built by ATI, unlike the earlier Monolith models, correct?

I picked up the DefTech D17s that have been on sale and upon reading that they are power hungry have been looking at the picking up this monoprice 3 channel amp or emotiva basX A3. Thoughts?

I never really understood if these were worth it… Would this have any noticeable improvement over a Denon 3400h? Running 5.1.2 setup for home theater.

In what size room? I'd say if you have 100W/channel already, no.

depend on speakers you have. but i'd argue most of speaker don't actually need something like this except electrostatic speakers, which are typically low in efficiency.

another benefit i see with dedicated AMP is that you no longer have to throw away that portion of system when a new video standard come out. more often than not it is the video chipset get out dated.

Given they are pretty sensitive as most Klipsch's are, yeah it's likely overkill and I doubt you'd notice much in of a difference (if any) over just any decent AVR.

Klipsch sensitivity values should not be trusted.

I have the 5 channel version of this and have been happy. It's powering SVS Ultra LCR bookshelves and XTZ Spirit 6 surrounds and I have no complaints yet. I want to expand my system and add Atmos speakers as well so it'll keep my system happy in the long run.

I added an outlaw amp to my denon x3500h and I can't tell you I notice a difference

What speakers do you have?

Ordinarily no as the amperage on your unit is similar to this with 105W @ 8 ohms.

I would not spend the money.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Again your amp is 105w. This amp specifically by monolith will not be a good investment.

Which outlaw? The mono's? If so those are 200W conservatively, so it's a 90w boost. If it's the 5 series then it's still higher I believe 130w which would be a 25w boost over the monolith so not a good comparison.

Should've specified, I have the 365T mini-towers, not the in-wall versions. How are they...it's a little tough to answer briefly: In my viewing room, this combo is overkill because my total room depth (viewing position to screen) is only 9', so the power of the LCR is kind of overwhelming. The 365T are an enormous step up from my previous Klipsch towers / WTW center channel, but out-of-the-box they don't have quite as much low-frequency extension as I expected. I watched Erin's Audio Corner review of the 365T and plan on running Dirac Live on my full setup (after I receive my miniDSP) - I plan on following Erin's recommendations regarding EQing the 365Ts. Hopefully that makes some sense/provides some useful insight.

Oh, I should add: my main motivation for getting the amp despite my tiny room was (a) the 365T are 4-Ohm nominal impedance, so I wasn't confident in my receiver handling them, and (b) I just wanted to go the separates route and this seemed to be a decent entry point. I'll probably replace the LCR trio well before upgrading the power amplifier.
