It comes fully assembled sans the casters. The casters themselves use some snap in hardware to attach. I opted to not even attach the casters, instead I just made some makeshift runners on each side out of stacked 2x4's.

The casters do not inspire confidence

It won't collapse under its own weight, at least. I think it's best suited for light hobby use, for example my wife uses one of these to store her sewing and crocheting stuff - perfect for that. This unit has no place in any halfway serious workspace or garage.

I bought mine to put a 3D printer on top of it and even that is stretching its capabilities. Ultimately I wouldn't pay more than $100 if I ever bought one again. No chance in hell I'd spend the money on the black variant which is like $160

wow, so does it wobble under the weight of your printer? I was planning on putting my Dewalt planer on it which is around 90 lbs.
It is just barely stable enough for the printer, with heavy things loaded in the bottom. I would strongly recommend against putting a planer on top.

Maybe if you buy two and bolt them back to back it would work lol. But at $200 I think you're into the next tier up with the 2000 series of cabinets, which are rated for heavier loads

These are awesome. I have the Craftsman 5 drawer bank and it's perfect. Mine was $99 during BF so this should be $75-$80

This is sized more like a nightstand rather than a dresser.

I bought one of these 1000 series Craftsman like 15 years ago.
I still have it, but I would agree that the $100 would have been better spent on a nice sturdy deep tool chest from Home Depot or Harbor Freight. My Craftsman drawers no longer slide out smoothly, but that is because the tool chest is no longer a rectangle. When parking my car, I hit it to a point where it is now a slight parallelogram. I will have to remove the drawers and try to lean on it to square it up. THAT is how thin the metal is.

I bought a Husky ($400) for Father's Day. Even though it is Standard Duty (100# drawer), it is spectacular. Glides smooth and easy. deep for tools. Comes with drawer liners.

I bought this in 2019 for $99 and immediately returned it once it arrived for pickup in-store at Lowes. The drawers were already dented (maybe the shipping/packaging is better in 2023) and the other drawers that were unaffected by the dent would bind up when you tried to open a drawer with one hand.

I was planning to use these for light handtools and desk supplies in my office but the thickness of the metal seemed questionable for anything more than a small Beanie Baby collection

I haven't purchased anything new craftsman since this experience.

Actually same thing for my drawer slides hitting the sides of cabinet right out of the box. I had to use a plier to basically push the metal sides inward in order to pull the sides out in turn damaging paint on both sides up and down the tool box. Debating on returning it or not.

I've always wondered how something like this would work for a 3D printer stand. Might vibrate / reverberate (with the print head's motion) but if not would be about perfect.

I ended up buying some stick-on furniture pads, and put those on the bottom of the wood panel that comes with this, so the wood wasn't contacting the metal frame directly. I also put them on my 3D printer's feet. It cut down like 90% of the vibrations

Great idea, thanks!

I've looked at these in person and they're the same build quality as the Waterloo that I bought several years ago from a deal on this site ($70?).

The sheet metal is thin. If you remove the drawers, they're floppy. The drawer slides are nice enough for the price point.

I've had mine full of relatively lightweight items (GoPro mounts, electronic parts, adhesives, plastic sheets) and stacked probably 70 pounds of stuff on top, inside Rubbermaid totes. No complaints, but I definitely wouldn't use it for daily tool storage like my older (~2003) USA-made Kobalt tool chest, which coincidentally was also made by Waterloo.

Used a $10 off $100 gift card from egifter. Came out to $94.94 w/tax. Decent 4% CB through one of my credit cards too.

I would save yourself the headache and frustration of this flimsy unit and just pay more to get the 2000 series. I have both this "1000" series and "2000" series. Lets just say the 1000 series is now my clothing dresser due to how flimsy, thin, and tweaked these things get. If you are using it for heavy tools, you will be frustrated at drawer operation, and smoothness. Plus dings and dents easily. I use them as my dresser, This might be good for light crafts storage or hobbies. The best part about these drawers are the wooden tops (which is usually $40 at home depot for the husky brand wood top, which works on craftsman drawers of the same spec. BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE.
I got both including the top for the 2000 series, can't complain about either they each have their place for the price
