I have an app on my phone called Gentle Wakeup that mimics a sunrise alarm clock. I just pair it with a stand and it works decently well for me. App is free. This is for android, don't know if an iOS version exists.

Also, as a previous poster wrote, some smart bulbs can easily replicate this as well. I think Alexa has a built-in ramping-up schedule. Obviously, the bulb has to be at least tuneable white and not simply a single color.
I have the Philips sunrise alarm clock radio, I love the thing. Had it almost 10 years now and it greatly helped me reduce waking up with headaches
but, was it stimulating?

Picked it up last night in store - asking for price match gets you treated like a suspect. No wonder I like shopping at Target better (but Walmart has more of a selection).
Anyway, the quality is mostly ok. I don't like the feel of the snooze button (which doubles as brightness control) - feels chintzy and not consistent for such a large button.
Set the alarm for this morning to observe behavior. It's not too bright, the sound is ok. Seems like we need it real close to our face like on a side table. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the timepiece display which could be a dealbreaker for me (it's quite bright and isn't clear enough for groggy eyes to see).
Positives: simple controls and limited stuff to tinker with. There's also a battery backup in case of power failure or if you want to relocate it.
Don't think you can do better for 9 bucks but you also get what you pay for.

Some reviews mention a constant buzzing sound. Do you hear it--especially if the clock is placed close to the bed or your head? How unclear are the numerals? Thanks.

Haven't noticed the buzzing. I'm probably going to use it a little away from my bed since this is mostly for my son. So, not sure it'll bother me even if it happens.
There's a glow around the numbers which is the same color (red) and believe this is the issue - not the numerals themselves. I think they cheaped out containing the glow. I believe I won't be able to read it in the middle of my sleep but you can definitely read it from the other end of the room like when you go to bed. I'm just more complaining about why they even have it if the display is so badly done. First world problems I'm sure I'll get used to.
I want to test out the wake-up glow which is the primary function. I find that not so bright. Let's see.
Walmart has a great return policy in general. So, all good for now. I'd say, try it.

Apple's Crap is that, only Apple's clock app retains alarms when closed, Other Alarm apps have to be open in background for it to work. F Apple.
Well, I have an android phone, and although I think Apple products are much better designed and more polished, this would be a setback. Just think of it like part of your sleep routine, setting it up in the background. Or use smart bulbs? Or get a dirt cheap android phone for like $50 lol.

this thing is absolute trash.. don't buy it

the batteries don't connect to the contacts, due to the plastic blocking the connection

the setup makes zero sense. good luck getting the sunlight setting functions to work

even at 50 cents this would be a waste of money

I just feel bad for the guy that same day delivered this POS.. and the guy thats gonna be picking it back up from my house..

Maybe it's stated somewhere but the detachable power cord for the clock is USB and they do not include an AC wall adapter. I just went to my bag of old Apple iPhone wall chargers and used that. So, in other words, you can't just plug this in to the wall or AC out of the box. It also features a USB port on the back to charge something else, probably slowly.

The battery backup only saves the time when you unplug it or the power goes out. The clock itself does NOT function on the batteries.

The clock display dims but not by using a light sensor. No, it's not that smart. It merely dims between the hours of 7pm and 7am. You can manually adjust the display brightness between the three choices but it will revert back to the set schedule, 7pm to 7am.
