Because H&R Block and Intuit work very hard to make sure the government isn't allowed to do so.

Yup! One word: lobbying.

Gotta love our corrupt system, causing people to spend millions of extra dollars and God knows how many man-hours filing tax returns that really have no reason to exist in this day and age.

Curious... About to purchase either this and realize our PC no longer has the CD drives. How do people use the CD version? Guess I have to purchase the download version unless I get an extra external CD drive to plug in.
My CD drive was acting up last year, so I created/logged in to my TT account and downloaded using the activation code from the CD.

Can someone comment on how easy it is to share with family? Supposedly you need to login to your account to activate? Can you simply share credentials also with family?

I have a USB CD drive which I can use on any of my computers, or if you don't have that, you can use any computer at work or at a friends house that has a CD drive and copy the files from the CD onto a flash drive and then install it that way.

Anyone know if these are better or same as prices at Costco? At least for the online price, seems the same. But wondering if they're a little cheaper in-store.

Thanks for all the answers, fellow slickdealers! I have purchased the digital version instead. Between the tax on physical version and no rush credit I had it was about $10 cheaper to go that route.

I can't get free delivery even with locker pickup and adding and deleting from cart. How else can I do this?
I figured it out; I was 1 penny short of $35 for free shipping, so I added Reach dental floss. The free shipping option reappeared.

Fidelity users make sure they aren't giving it to you before buying this. I can buy the PC version for $5 or do online for free thanks to them. Premier at that.

Jump on the $20 H&R Block deluxe deal. TT isn't worth it anymore for the price. H&R does same thing.
Tried H&R and got stuck in a validation loop for a tax response that I've never seen before and the product wouldn't explain. Not gonna do that again.

Freetaxusa.com is solid. It has free federal returns and $15 state returns.
I've used Freetaxusa for several years and had a good experience. That said, my side hustle made enough $ this year that I want to be sure I document it for minimum tax impact. Which version of of TurboTax would be good for a side hustle of ~$5k?

I will never understand this deal. They do it every year. But why would I pay $45 for a $35 product by itself plus a $10 gift card? Why not just buy the $35 product by itself? Since you're paying $9.99 for a $10 gift card? I don't need to save one penny. That's not a deal. The only deal is the markdown of the $60 software to $35

H&r Block software was a nightmare when I last used it.
