Can I use this in my backyard. Just in case I have a fight with wife.
So? I'm hiking a few feet from the subaru to the camp spot, or the backyard for when kids want to use it. The day i decide to hike into a remote mountain lake and do it more then once, is when i will consider the ultralight 2oz 4 season tent people like you use while scoffing at a backyard tent of 10lbs.
Especially for 35$...

Great deal!

The floor dimensions are 77" x 82" so a queen mattress will fit easily and should have some room leftover for some bags. Also, be aware that this isn't a tall tent so if your mattress is thick you will have reduced headroom. We have the non-fresh & black version of this MH100 tent and we use ours with a 55" wide air mattress and have plenty of room leftover.

Depends on what you're doing with the tent and how good you are at picking & preparing your tent site. Footprints do three things.
1) provide abrasion & puncture resistance to the bottom. So if you're setting up on rocks/gravel or lots of sticks, etc. it will help keep you from destroying the irreplaceable underside of the tent.
2) extra water barrier. In rain & snow, it provides an extra barrier against wetness coming in through the bottom. Ditto if you have no choice but to set up on wet ground. Any normal tent has some protection already but in wet or even damp conditions, a footprint can mean the difference between a dry tent floor or not.
3) small bit of insulation in cold conditions. The ground is by far the thing that will sap any heat. In cold conditions, that's a tiny bit more insulation, partly for reason #2. Wet = cold. So you could find a leafy or thick grassy spot and get a boost that way but you run the risk of damaging the underside via #1 without a footprint.

All that said, if you're skilled at site prep, have a good tent, and aren't rough on your equipment or using gear that can poke holes in it (like certain cots with pokey legs), a lot of folks don't bother. Me, I always use one. Don't know if this brand has one but if they don't make one you can always get a sheet or two of Tyvek house wrap from the hardware store or a local construction scrap & cut it to size. You want it to be a couple of inches smaller than the tent's bottom fabric & not stick out any.
Great info! I use medium-duty polyethelene tarps purchased from Walmart as footprints for my tents. For my larger tent I'm using two tarps - a 6' x 8' and an 8' x 10'. For my MH100 an 6' x 8' tarp isn't quite big enough so for that one I'm using a 8' x 10' tarp and folding the excess along two sides underneath.

Hrmmm, I like the look and design, but the tent is 6'8" long and I am 6'3" tall. I don't think it's going to work for me. Any tall people have comments?
The base is 77" x 82". 82" is just under 6'10" so I think it should work though there won't be much room between your head/feet and the walls.

We have a similar 3 person tent to use for 2 of us. Yes, queen size mattress should fit inside. Remember, when a tent says "3 person tent", it's really for 2 people plus bags inside. You may be able to have 3 people in this tent, but there won't be any room for bags inside the tent. Also, the ceiling of this tent is lower which means you can't stand inside the tent to change clothes. We lay/sit down to change clothes in our low ceiling tent. My 6'2" tall husband is not excited about that feature.

According to this YouTube video, this MH100 "Fresh & Black" is not the same tent (besides just the black interior). It appears to be higher quality with thicker fabric throughout, plus more ventilation areas versus the basic MH100 you linked - even though they have the same MH100 model number prefix.

https://youtu.be/sJstllbbIcM?feature=shared

And $35 seems to be by far the lowest price this particular model tent sells for online since it's a Walmart clearance item. As far as I can tell, everyone else has it for retail or close to retail of ~$100 for the 3-person model.

For those reasons, I took a shot and copped one. Thanks OP. Great deal.

Really looking forward to the all-black interior. 👍
Edit: from the video you posted it seems that the rainfly is thicker as well. I will try using double rainflies with the rainfly of the grey version underneath.

Here's a video of a rain test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwrlhbDfDrE

Thanks for pointing out that the fabric appears to be thicker on this model vs the grey non-Fresh & Black version. The grey one is 7.5lbs (vs 9lbs for this one) so I think you may be right. I already have the grey one but I'm thinking of getting this one as the thicker material would be more desirable in colder weather. I'm actually planning to use this one with the rainfly of the grey one in colder weather as that one only has a single ventilation point.

Great brand excellent price. A little bit heavy if you're hiking, but for short hikes and camping will work. Dont forget to look for ground padding & floor isolation.
Also a little heavy and not very air tight if you're heading to the international space station, but tents like this are not marketed as being ideal for backpacking any more than they are for astronauts.

I've seen people go on real wilderness backpacking and bike touring trips with garbage tents, and even when the garbage tents resulted in specific types of suffering, they still end with positive memories of the trip.

I suspect most gear snobbery is from people who spend more time on camping blogs than the trail.

I wouldn't play games with gear in the winter, though.

Do you recommend a 8' x 10' tarp size for this tent? It looks kind of oversized considering the tent dimensions are 6.8 ft x 6.4 ft x 3.8 ft/..

The next lower standard size for tarps is 6' x 8' and this isn't quite wide enough for the tent - it is a few inches short, though this may be acceptable to you. Given my OCD I wanted full coverage underneath and went with the 8' x 10' and folding the excess underneath. It may be possible to cut off the excess but as these tarps are made from woven polyethylene fibers you may need to do something to prevent it from coming apart at the cut edges (it could be as simple as melting the cut edges with a lighter).

In my experience, a "3 person tent" is usually perfect for solo camping. Even 2 people will be a bit cramped.
I have this tent and 2 people can easily fit. The same tent in a 2 person is on sale at Decathalon for $20. Excellent deal for a very good quality tent. https://www.decathlon.com/product...son-303295

Based on multiple youtube reviews from credible people, this tent is great for solo or 2 person camping. Easy set up, quality material, and holds up very well to the rain.

I am excited to try this out in the summer.
