Definitely older. But I am playing BG3 on it right now. Have played cyberpunk and Starfield. Obviously resolution will suffer but they run great.
I purchased a 64gb refurbished deck from GameStop when the price was $300ish. It came in like new condition with no signs of use. Came with original charger and carrying case in a brown box. Recommended.
If you don't already have the membership total is closer to $290+tax for the 64 gig model.

Direct from valve with true warranty support it's $280. But hard to find in stock.

GameStop support will be nearly non existent.

Here is this guy's experience with a GameStop refurb Steam Deck

new FSR 3 to increase FPS. Any game that has older FSR versions can be replaced with new FSR 3 for FPS boost on steam deck.

"Any game that has older FSR" wrong. Game must support FSR 2.0 or greater. Compatibility on Linux isn't as good as on Windows. Frame generation isn't meant for mediocre hardware that is used in devices like the Steam Deck. Frame generation is designed for mid-high tier hardware that can already run games at a consistent 60+ fps at 1440p or higher resolution.

Personal experience but we bought a new oled model for Christmas and could barely get the thing to play games without constant wi-if issues. We've never experienced a single problem between our PCs, Xboxes, etc getting online so it's definitely not on our end. We even gave it two days thinking oh servers are just slammed but this is legit an issue with their garbage antenna and thousands of other people have complained about these same issues. I'd personally stay far away from this trash deck.
Reach out to Valve heard their support is great and basically send a new one to you

If you are going to use it primarily for remote play, the Portal is better. You will get the full PS5 experience.
Backbone might be better because it is more versatile and a bit cheaper

The Backbone feels like a toy compared to the Portal, plus the remote experience is much smoother.

Starfield definitely doesn't run great on it. I have it and it runs with potato graphics and a low frame rate. Personally, I would consider it virtually unplayable. If you happen to already have a gaming PC, you can use Steam Remote play to stream it to your Deck to get good graphics and frames.
That's a good point! Can you use remote play from the other handheld consoles as well?

Not that the Steamdeck is bad, but the Ally does have 512 Gig included for the open box pricing.

My SD is rarely connected to Wi-Fi when I'm at work- never had those issues. Sounds more like user error.

I think many (if not most) people purchase the 64GB version for the specific purpose of upgrading the SSD themselves.
I did. Up to a 1 TB SSD and 1 micro SD

No he didn't go into much detail. The issue is less about the device as I'm sure it can be resolved via software more than likely. But the fact that GameStop was sketchy and all over the place when he turned to them for support.
But what did he expect? Is is GS after all. Most of these dudes make these videos because they already know what is going to happen. LOL I don't even mess with GS anymore and surprised they're still in business.

Old tech like the switch. Affordable tech to play on the go.
Not even, the Deck is now (after a year of being out) 3 generation old CPUs with 1 generation old iGPU. The Switch is using hardware from 10 years ago, which modern phones have far outpaced.

WiFi is a known issue with OLED Decks. My OG has no issues, OLED was having awful stability on the same network. It's been reported on the Steam forums as well. If it weren't for the stability problems, I'd easily just recommend people save for the base OLED, battery life and thermals are so much better.

not really a good deal considering the gen 2s have stealth upgraded better faster hardware. even though the entry level of the gen 2 does not have oled.
I'm sorry you're 100% wrong.

Wow, $265 ? This is an epic deal even if you're just looking for a solid Emulation device. This can do most Switch games, a touch of PS3 and Xbox 360 games (some select titles) and mostly everything below that.

64gb model, Swap SSD for 1tb, or Do a 512gb MicroSD card to store your roms.

I am one who wanted a year to get mine and still to this day, when traveling, it's a must take along....
