Are you looking at the first one? Or the 2nd/3rd links?

First one is 77% merino

Second/Third links are 56% merino.

First one is 77% merino

Second/Third links are 56% merino.
The second/third apparently are different than the first.

The first link isn't the sale item. Both items from REI are 56/44

Yes, it is.

It is labeled as "REI co-op".

The 100% wool shirts are listed as "150" and "250" base layers for the grams per square. These are blends as other noted.

I bought this last year (gray version). I really want to like it, but never end up wearing it. It's a weird piece. If it's cold it's too thin to wear on its own, but the collar is awkward if worn under something else like a sweater. It looks floppy and weird.

This product developed holes sooner than any other merino wool product I owned. Thin and flimsy

This is a very good observation. For me, the 250 weight 100% wool shirts work well. They are warm enough to be worn alone as a long sleeve, and they get very warm if layered. Then you just choose 150 or 250 pants based on the weather and if you are moving. I originally bought 250 pants, but they are too warm if moving in all but the most extreme cold. The 150s I can leave on in more conditions.

So my advice for very versatile is 250 shirt with 150 pants to start.

You sure it wasn't moths? I have smart wool from 20 years ago that only have holes where the moths ate the fabric.
