Epic Games has Ghostrunner (PC Digital Download) for Free.
Thanks community member eber for sharing this deal
Game Details:
Single Player
Genre: Action / Shooter
Ghostrunner offers a unique single-player experience: fast-paced, violent combat, and an original setting that blends science fiction with post-apocalyptic themes. It tells the story of a world that has already ended and its inhabitants who fight to survive.
1/1: Escape Academy
1/2: 20 Minutes Till Dawn
1/3: A Plague Tale: Innocent (repeat)
1/4: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
Very fun game. Like 3d hotline Miami. Great music. Lots of dying and trying again. I never finished it because I'm getting old and slow. Also made me motion sick, but so does Minecraft so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For people like me who typically play with controller, my advice on this game is to switch to mouse and keyboard, or plan to reconfigure the button mappings from the getgo. By default jump was mapped to right trigger, and melee attack to right shoulder button. Just picture what that's going to feel like, in a game where you're constantly jumping and attacking enemies with a sword, usually simultaneously.
Once I switched it to be more like driving controls using a single stick for "steering" and triggers for fwd/back, and put the other controls on the ABXY face buttons, it felt a little better, but mouse and keyboard is pretty much a requirement to do this game well.

Great game. People say it's really hard but you respawn instantly and there is plenty of checkpoints. I personally hate games like dark souls and stuff like that but I really liked ghostrunner

Have you (or anyone) played this on the Steam Deck?
1/1: Escape Academy
1/2: 20 Minutes Till Dawn
1/3: A Plague Tale: Innocent (repeat)
1/4: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
A plague tale: Innocent free, AYFKM?
Been lurking for a deal on Xbox for a while.
Well PC works too!
Ghostrunner is right up my alley and even if the guardians are not the X-men to me, i just checked the gameplay and it looks great!
I will grab escape academy too.
20mn til dawn, no thanks!

Thanks for sharing. TU.
I just realized Guardians of Galaxy is a Single Player game by Eidos. I had the impression it was an MMO so totally ignored it. Looks good. Really hope Eidos would revive Deus Ex, though... Maybe they would have the funds for another Deus Ex with the money from Epic?
Already have A Plague's tale and Ghostrunner for a long time... So not the best list to me personally. But good for people who don't already have those. Also GotG is not a bad addition. Now my backlog is longer but probably won't play a lot of the Epic giveaways...
Too busy with Xenoblade 2+3 right now with Persona 3 Reload coming soon.
thanks for posting this (love your username btw I'm a spider man fan too ) and thanks to the OP as well ... plague tale innocence and marvel's guardians of the galaxy takes the sting out of me missing out on outer worlds with all DLC Dec 25th ..speaking of which
Guys don't be stupid like me .. in the years to come assume epic games will not only give away a game on Dec 25th but assume as well it will be a highly sought after game ... the website I normally rely on to give me info on the epic store giveaway failed to list the Dec 25th giveaway when I checked it so I foolishly assumed that there was no giveaway this past Dec 25th 2023 .. so basically every day of the 12 or 17 or whatever days of xmas epic games does it's thing, if a website failed to report a free game giveaway check another website, then another .. there's a reddit devoted to the epic games store you can check too ... or even better check the epic games storefront itself and scroll down to the free games section... don't assume that a day will go by when they don't give away a free game like I foolishly did.. not hating on the epic store at all their game giveaways are incredibly generous in my opinion , I am however kicking myself for my stupidity ..
I have noticed that the previous Dec 25th game giveaways ... Death Stranding Dec 25th 2023 and Prey Dec 25th 2022.... were given away again in the following year in May so fingers crossed Epic Stores will do this for Outer Worlds.

Haven't tried it on the steam deck, but you should be able to map some of the controls to the pads on the back of the steam deck, which should make it more playable
well missed this game....just too distracted by new years and got bored of grabbing the free game and just forgot....oh well. hopefully they give ghostrunner for free again later in the year, like they did for death stranding.
Is there a master list of what they gave away for the holidays? I think there may have been like 10 games now, and it's purely for curiosity, but I want to know what I missed out on.
Look at those other posters in here who weren't as quick to the draw, just hoping and praying to be the cool cat who gets the reps. Happy New Year, you are slow as f--k!
It wasn't about reps at all. It was about the contest where this post won $100.

You're a day late and a dollar short.

No BG3 in this list, so not sure why people say that...it was game of year but nothing else special.
