^Interesting. Not saying Kraft brand lasts 25 years though!
Regardless of the brand of emergency food you buy, the main differentiator that would separate the "normal grocery items" from the "emergency food" is going to be that the emergency food will come packaged in completely airtight packaging (either a Mylar bag or a can) that has an oxygen absorber inside. That's how the super long shelf life can be attained.

You never even know if you'll live 25 years without an emergency.
Some emergency food that lasts a few years is fine too.

To have it ALL last 25 years wouldn't make any sense imo, not to mention being too expensive.
To an extent, I see your point. But, if you can go even 10 years without an emergency situation, the long term storage food could actually be cheaper in the long run, just from not needing to rotate stock on it every couple years.

I'm not even advocating everyone going out and buying expensive pre-packaged "emergency food" either, as you can DIY long term food storage of most dry food items just by getting some thick Mylar bags (no less than 5 mil) and oxygen absorbers. An impulse sealer is best for sealing Mylar bags, but it can be done with a clothes iron in a pinch if necessary.

Personally, I bought a freeze dryer 3 months ago. Freeze dried fruits make awesome snacks, and when you have a kid that's both gluten and dairy free, good luck finding any commercially prepared emergency food that fits that dietary requirement...

When I did my first one I got a promotional credit for .95 which made it free. I ordered about 10 and got three yesterday so I ordered another 10 or so. Received 7 today and still have another 15 or so in my s&s items. Free is for me.

Sometimes it helps to also play around with your Amazon Day. The closer you get to it, they won't offer the slow shipping credit, but if you make it pretty far out (for example, changing the day to today or tomorrow so it's close to a week out by the time it would arrive), then the credit will again show up.

I love the spirals. The regular box is too much, but I make myself eat it anyway and feel too full.

This is like the ONLY time I can think of where I'm content paying the same price for less food. Just portion controlling myself.
