Some emergency food that lasts a few years is fine too.
To have it ALL last 25 years wouldn't make any sense imo, not to mention being too expensive.
I'm not even advocating everyone going out and buying expensive pre-packaged "emergency food" either, as you can DIY long term food storage of most dry food items just by getting some thick Mylar bags (no less than 5 mil) and oxygen absorbers. An impulse sealer is best for sealing Mylar bags, but it can be done with a clothes iron in a pinch if necessary.
Personally, I bought a freeze dryer 3 months ago. Freeze dried fruits make awesome snacks, and when you have a kid that's both gluten and dairy free, good luck finding any commercially prepared emergency food that fits that dietary requirement...
