A note regarding Emerald paint. The finish is absolutely the most beautiful I've seen in my work (interior design). However, it is virtually impossible to touch up a small scuff or ding without the touch up showing. Almost always, the entire wall must be painted. It is best when sprayed. If you intend to roll the paint, ask the folks at your SW for tips and tricks for the best finish.
Not necessarily saying this to just promote SW in particular but one of the biggest things I've learned being an average DIY home owner is that paints like these are quite often worth the premium especially on sale. I know there are the Behrs and other house brands that put out some decent product but the adhesion, coverage and durability a lot of times just simply doesn't compare.
Good lord, I painted my whole house with this stuff about 5 years ago. It was under $50 a can before discounts. Now it's about $90 a can. So even with the 40% discount they are making a killing on just paint.

About 3-4 years ago it was about 50/gal retail for super paint and I was able to get it at half off. Now it is 50 with my discounts. Disgusting if you ask me. Pretty much making me goto promar at this point.

Stacks with $10 off $50 coupons found on their site. You can also enter the coupon barcode for online orders now.
Anyone know if you can place multiple orders with the 40% off AND $10 off?

Did our basement with Emerald and it was great.

I do not recommend promar primer however, it's like water compared to other primers, that are much cheaper and have better coverage.

I'm pretty old school...I sand to remove as much of the original finish as I can. I primarily want any clearcoat or any type of sealant removed. Once I feel like I've got off what I need I wipe everything with a new microfiber cloth damp with TSP. After a few hours (preferably overnight especially if your idea of damp is wetter than mine) I check for anything I may have missed and sand again if needed then repeat wipe down and wait. If I'm good I prime with B•I•N Primer and Stain Blocker. When dry I light sand with 400 grit or steel wool depending on how it feels to touch. If needed prime again and if not then paint. Paint coats go like prime coats, checking between coats and lightly sanding if needed to keep the finish smooth. All that's left is your choice of top-coat to protect your work after it's had time to cure completely.

FWIW of course. I've had great success over the years using this process but everybody is different. Hope that helps at least a little.
What if the sides are a paper thin melamine on MDF? Trying to refinish the cabinets. Like the style and the front are solid wood. Just want to change the color.

If you're lucky enough that the wood front frames provide a slight lip to the sides then you could just get thin wood sheets, HD sells a 1/4" sanded plywood, and cut panels to cover the sides and the frame lip would hide the end grain. Then the sides will match the new stained/painted fronts.

If there isn't a lip you can still do the same thing but you would then have to get a little creative with some corner trim or something custom.

Or if you're painting I'd probably just try priming the side panels after wiping with TSP and painting them as is and see what you get.

Yes, and the manager at my store is cool with running multiple transactions for me.

$15 off $50. The numbers under the barcode also work online. The guy in store yesterday gave me a hard time about stacking so I just did an online order with store pickup.

Best paint for trims from SW is Pro Classic semi-gloss. Can't find better finish
Semi gloss for trim is very 1980s. New hotness is satin.

There's really no need to sand. Just clean with tsp, and lay bin over the top. That stuff bites hard to anything. Then your topcoat of choice, but an acrylic enamel or urethane enamel are recommended.

Their costs have gone up too. Wages, rent, insurance, raw materials, etc. You act like inflation doesn't affect corporations 🙄😂
