Because most of the Indian tourist have boycott Maldives as their Members of Government posted very negative and harsh comments on Indian Prime Minister and Indian people. Also, the current government won election using India Out campaign in Maldives. The Government of India didn't take any action but the people of India did. And roughly 14-22% Maldives tourist are from India, which contributes one of the highest gdp tourism percentage in Maldives.

I wouldn't travel from the east coast to only go to the Maldives. It's a long ways away. The first time we went we made a grand trip out of it. We stayed 5 days in Dubai, UAE, 3 nights in Muscat, Oman, and 6 nights at the Hilton Conrad on Rangali island. We flew Emirates First Class on their A380 plane with a shower and bar on-board. OMG! It was the most amazing and fantastic trip that I will never forget.
Would I stay at a budget place like this that is being advertised on SlickDeals? Probably not. You can go to South America for the same price and a heck of a lot closer to home. However, if people want to pay this just to say "I went to the Maldives," then do it. It's not something I would recommend, though.
Even with staying 6 nights free at the Hilton Conrad on points, our bill was still $3,000 for 6-nights for 2 people. We had free breakfast every morning as Diamond members, we did 1 excursion, drank alcohol every night, and I even skipped dinners most nights because I was able to eat/drink enough for free during Gold and Diamond members happy hour. If we spent $3k on this, ask yourself, how in the world is this island offering everything for under $3k? It will be a cheap resort. You don't go to the Maldives to stay at cheap resorts. Go to Mexico if that's what you want.
If you book this deal, don't let my post dissuade you. Have a great time. I would 100% make a grand trip out of it by making at least 1-2 more stops beforehand. I want to provide feedback for someone that has been twice.

I'd rather buy an apple vision pro at that price.
And that 12k normal price is hilarious
