With the recent storms in California, we lost our power for 3 days. This little guy kept our fridge and freezer running and cold and saved us a ton on food! We ran it pretty consistently for those three days.
We also used it to run some lights, a TV, and our internet router so we had TV for the duration of the outage.
There is a design flaw where it sucks air from the bottom so don't place it on grass, dirt, sand; place it on a board or something to keep it from vacuuming debris into it.
For $200 this generator is amazing and does everything we needed it to do.
I got one of the bigger ones and it can run my fridge, internet, and phones for 28hrs on a single charge. My generator takes 2 hours to charge it back up to full.
It saves you a massive amount on gas. Useful for us where there is no cell service and the nearest gas station is 40 minutes away. The Creek Fire was our "proof of concept" moment when roads were closed for 3 weeks. All the neighbors ran out of gas week 1.
We have a small generator to top off the battery, as well as a 12500w starting to run the entire house+well when needed.

Haven't NEEDED it yet, which is fine also. This is a "what if" setup for me. Bought a new propane tank to keep with it but haven't had a chance to get it filled yet.
I mean, does the bigger one consume more gasoline? For one gallon of gas, can the 2000w power the fridge longer than the 4000w?
just because YOU have not seen it just means you did not look hard enough,
they are out there...took me less time to find than post this.

This puppy is loud, it's no Honda. And the air intake on the bottom is just dumb.
But, you won't find a better inverter generator for cheaper than this

Oil spec and oil change:
Best practice: Change the oil after the first 15 minutes of use and after every 24 hours of use thereafter. It's only 380 cc of oil. This way no magnetic dipstick needs to be purchased. Per the manual you can go every 50 hrs after the first change at 25 hours.
Checking the oil level: Set on level surface. Fill to the bottom two threads. Over-filling can cause engine damage and hard starting. A visual check is much easier and more accurate than using the dipstick.
amount: 380 cc
Type: Use the correct weight for ambient temperature. 5w-30 Full Synthetic may be used at any ambient temperature. Conventional 10w-30 should be used during the first five hours of use and may be used thereafter.
Caution, do NOT use an oil with an upper number greater than 30! The engine is splash lubricated and will not receive the correct lubrication from "40" oils unless ambient is continuously above 80F.
My top choice: 5w-30 Full Synthetic; Kirkland Dexos 1 is premium grade full synthetic is the best choice after break-in after the first 5 hours of use. Costco Item 997930 is about $3 per quart in the jug twin pack.
Break in: use conventional oil 10w-30 ambient temps 0F-120F also may be used after break-in.
Use of conventional oils requires attention to the ambient temperature 5w-30 conventional can ONLY be used below freezing. 5w-40 conventional may ONLY be used if ambient is continuously above 80F.
TIPS:
tools: a graduated cylinder to measure the oil, a 1 qt oil drain pan, a small funnel with a clear tube attached.
Warm the engine. Remove the dipstick. Quickly turn the generator horizontal to drain the oil. Placing the gen on a small wire table with the pan underneath makes draining very easy
For proper lubrication ensure that the generator in use is level front to rear and side to side.
Carburetor float bowl drain. Locate the plastic tube which goes to the bottom of the carburetor. I have not checked this model but nearly all small engines have a float bowl drain. There is typically a screw to turn near the tube to drain the float bow. IME, for end of season storage, the only way to protect the fuel system is to drain it completely and allow it to air dry. (i) siphon fuel from the tank; put it in your auto. (ii) open the tank petcock (iii) open the float bowl drain (Iv) the remaining ounce or two of fuel in the tank and the fuel line and the float bowl will flow out. If this is performed from new the then the fuel system will never require service disassembly or cleaning and the engine will always start with one half of a pull.
Fuel left in the tank long enough with or without stabilizer will lead to tank rust which can enter the carburetor or plug the fuel filter. Destructive acids form in gasoline.
Ethanol fuels: Buy non ethanol IF you can get it however these engines run perfectly fine on 10% ethanol gas no stabilizer or treatment is required with fresh fuel.
Treating a fuel can: Begin with a can which has been rinsed with warm sudsy water. Rinse with water. Air dry or remove water with an alcohol rinse. Place one ounce of Stabil 360 in the empty can before you fill it. Ethanol gas will then be good in the can from 3-6 months depending on storage conditions. Small engine equipment does not need the red storage formula because it is easier and 100% effective to drain after use.

As far as noise goes, it's very quiet at idle but does get louder under load. I bought this to pair with my open frame Champion 100520 (far louder). You can't get much cheaper than this unit for an inverter of this size and it has an L5-30 plug. Our plan is to keep running the Champion during the day to power the whole house and overnight plug this unit in and have it run just our fridge circuit. For an intermittent load, the generator will run over-night, mostly idled down quietly, and sip gas doing it. There's no way to check how many hours are on the unit, but based on how it looks and how it runs I think the refurb savings work out.
