Yeah but it's got a monster CPU and a pretty decent 4060. Buying an extra 16 GB and installing it yourself (+$50) and you're still at $995 total.

We got a 3060 version of this two and a half years ago for my kids, and they have been gaming hard on it with an external monitor. It's been great.

Keep in mind that this is 16:9. Not a big issue for most, but it is the (much) older chassis. Seems the trend is for 16:10, I certainly can't go back. May be worth checking around for similar deals for some people.

Keep in mind this is the older 16:9 display chassis and not the newer 16:10 chassis. Probably not a dealbreaker for most at all though.

for around $1000 it seems like a no brainer with a 4060 in it.

Looked great until I saw the RTX 4060
Would have been real SD FP material if it had a 4070

I don't really mind the GPU being a 4060, but is this laptop going to be loud during normal workloads in a college classroom? Just going to have a bunch of browser tabs, along with Excel/Word and Spotify open.

Nope. Excel and Spotify will not activate the GPU so that fan will be off. CPU fan will be running but Excel and Spotify should barely get this CPU warm, so most likely the fan will be at low RPM.

But yes when you're playing a AAA game every fan will be cranking up and it will get quite loud.

This has 2x8 so you'd have to buy 2x16 to upgrade, no? You have any "budget" recommendations to do that?

I'm having trouble finding info on the screen brightness and gpu wattage. Can someone point me in the right direction?
