I know over a dozen family's with Mesa seats including myself. Never heard a single complaint
I'll be honest and say I don't own a Mesa or Mesa Max, but I'm in a few UB and Parents groups on Facebook. There are a handful of complaints--not the majority, but a few CPSTs chiming in that they don't personally recommend it.

I don't think it's a bad car seat necessarily and it depends infant to infant how well they fit, but I understand many don't like to take that chance and negative reviews tend to be pretty loud. That's why I was suggesting potentially UB heard the complaints, also recognize that Nuna is an extremely strong competitor in this field and given the price points of the Mesa Max versus Aria, it doesn't seem to make sense to keep both around unless they shuffle the prices around. That's why it was purely a hypothesis of mine that they're either discounting these to get rid of them due to the bad reputation and potentially they fixed the complaints issues on the Aria, or perhaps this is more looking like a permanent price cut to position the Aria as the premier car seat.

It's heavy for sure but I have no other complaints. It's well built, much better than some cheaper car seats I've seen, and definitely feels premium.

I doubt they are getting rid of them because they just came out last year.
I agree, it's a bit heavier, but I think at this price point, UB is competing against Nuna and other high end brands like Clek. Honestly, from most parents I spoke to, the best combo is UB stroller + Nuna car seat. It's very clear Uppababy isn't satisfied with where they are and the new Aria car seat fires a shot directly at Nuna going after their lightweight product.

Just a hypothesis on my end because in a lot of UB / Nuna combo parents community, I've seen more than a handful talk about the poor fit of the Mesas and a few CPSTs not recommending them. That's why it was purely a hypothesis of mine that they could be discounting these in face of the new Aria seat or they could be discontinuing them also as the Aria may address some of the chin/chest fit issues that CPSTs and parents have complained about.
