BTW, I see posts all the time of people that claim model X is better based on specs, but actually never tried it. Wish they would put disclaimers and not be so certain of their claims. (Not talking about your post). Most important for a travel router to me is useability.

I used it on a recent cruise with it plugged into an Anker phone battery and it worked as a hotspot all over the ship for my family. Worked perfectly. Also used it in VPN mode to connect back to my home network and while slow, worked OK. (It was slow because the ship internet speed was slow. )

If your hotspot works for you, you don't need this.
Had the Beryl AX and it was nice but overkill for my use and price so I returned it.
Main use is tethering from the phone and occasional travel. Also as an AP for my 5g modem kit with X65 modem set up as Dual Wan on my Flint 2 router so I can do speedtests without unplugging my main ISP everytime, and connecting an outside TV.
Not sure how EAPs work, but thought I read you can just sign in with a phone then clone the MAC to the Beryl and use it on the network.

Can also use the free Netshare app if your phone has No hotspot capability.
I have read the Opal caps at around 120Mbps on usb tether and it only has USB 2.0.
MT1300 did not sell that high price

We never pay retail price that is the spirit of SDs
It was mentioned previously that there isn't a Tailscale package for these, but it looks like there is for the GL-AR750S-Ext (Slate) and a pretty easy-to-follow installation guide:

And the packages are here:

I have a pixel phone that can turn a wifi signal into wifi hotspot. The wifi hotspot doesn't count towards the mobile hotspot data since it's wifi, so it's basically an unlimited wifi hotspot. Is there any benefit to getting one of these travel routers vs just using my phone as a wifi hotspot on the cruise?
This would be the only time i'd need one of these things. Seems like my phone can do everything i'd personally need one of these to do.
