The problem with too much torque is that if you aren't adequately holding it and the bolt is tight or hits a bad spot in the threads, it could slam your hand into something when you pull the trigger. I use the little 35 ft-lbs version and have never found it to be inadequate.
Read up on the post here where I brought this to everyones attention. The OP didn't even know about the issue and is slinging links of old inventory, confirmed by the ebay seller
