Maybe acting like a dock for when a laptop is connected.
no he means that the 500$ price is namesake there. Nobody would buy it at 500, its just there so customer perceives value
This is a hot deal.

90hz, 90% DCIP3, 10w of speakers (way better than most laptops), Ethernet and USB-C PD along with a hub, rich inputs, and comes factory calibrated for $150, crazy. Wish it was 4k, I'd happily pay $100-150 more.

Webcam positioning on top of the monitor is also very ideal. You look much better from that angle than from say a laptop angle. This camera is also apparently Windows Hello enabled.

It literally says in the product information "compatibility with Mac or PC". Which part is unclear?

If you're looking for specs, this one isn't worth 150$ at all and no way it's price 500$. With few extra bucks you can get Samsung M8C with EPP.
Which specs don't you like because this HP has stellar specs. That M8C (you mean M80C) is $400 w/EPP and does not have half the features of this HP. I've had two and returned them both. The smart monitor features get in the way of just using the damn thing as a normal monitor. To compare this HP with the Samsung M80C is apples and oranges. Also $150 vs $400 is not "a few extra bucks".

I'm trying to find out if this screen can adjust high enough to allow an open laptop to fit underneath. Anyone find this info?

Seems great for pairing with a laptop with USB-C, but that's the only "out" data port, right? If you've got a desktop with no USB-C that webcam (or any of the other ports) have no way to get back to the computer...right?

I would think that is true for the webcam.

M80C is sold for $270 for a 27" size. The price is not vast considering that it has few inches more and 4K. Then again, the refreshing rate is lower.

It looks like all those smart features are crappy gimmicks. It will probably even harder to work with this as a monitor because of those so-called features.

This HP device has some meaningful camera tracking as far as I understand. Moreover, it has a built-in dock for USB-C charging and lots of USB-A outlets. I know such a feature would clear my desk a lot.

Samsung's features are more meaningful for a TV not a monitor so it probably doesn't worth the price difference.

and I just missed the deal. I should've triggered first and then go for research.

It sounds like we agree on a few things. The $270 price is not for everybody (Samsung EPP or EDU) and I don't qualify for either, so that price is very YMMV. Amazon = $449. BestBuy = $449. Do you know where I can buy the M80C for $270?

But we agree that the HP monitor and the Samsung monitor are for two different uses and are not two monitors to compare.

Sorry you missed the deal.

That price is far from a very YMMV. Samsung Edu is pretty easy to qualify as I recall. You may be able to find help even at this forum. Very YMMV is sth that you'd need to drive to few stores to find a stock type of stuff.
So lets act honestly, its mostly available for $270.

Otherwise, that monitor is not so great. Features are mostly useless. That makes the comparison, HP one a better deal.

I got this monitor today but it doesn't turn on, tried multiple outlets. Looks like DOA.

I bought this and am very happy with it.

Image quality is great, build quality is awesome and good price as well.

Lately I have had good luck with HP Products - Elitebook laptops, HP Color Laser printer and now this monitor.

I got mine today and it was tricky to find the power button (no, I didn't read the manual). The rocker control on the back right of the display doesn't include power on/off. Did you make sure to hit the power button on the right side of the bottom face?

How's the webcam quality? I can't find a review on it, some decent quality from the G4 but I'm not sure if it's the same sensor.
