Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

I was transferred to port department as well. regular reps can't do that.
Was it difficult to get them to transfer you to the Port Dept? Did the Port Dept complete for you the port of more than one phone?

If you don't pay for the 2nd month, Metro will suspend your line on Day 31 and close the account on Day 61. I don't think you can port out the phone number of a suspended line. There are posts from people who said they ported out BEFORE Day 30 and their phone was still unlocked after Day 180.
Thank you for the reply! I will port out before day 30 then.

I called metro because incoming texts and calls still are going to GV. Metro's OTP does work.
I was transferred to porting department. The rep told me the porting request was submitted on 3/4. Since the numbers are landline numbers, it takes about 10 business days to complete porting. She told I should receive a text after porting is complete. She said expect it to be completed on Monday next week. Fingers crossed.

My 3rd device was shipped yesterday. Wondering if I have to pay for next month's service to ensure 3rd devices is unlocked on day 180.

You still can port out Metro line after 31 days between 31 ~40 days, if you already requested the PIN before suspension (you can't request the PIN in suspended status) . I did many times port out to other carrier after first month ended.
port out phone number has no impact on your unlocking eligibility

What plan is your 1st line? If it's not the $65 plan, you won't get offered $30 for the 2nd line.
It was as it is the only one allowing the IP12 discount, all other plans does not qualify. looks like I can add additional line and only requires to chose the $30 plan to qualify for a discount. I might get the Razr. TIA.

If you're talking about Samsung phones, then you can flash them with Samsung stock firmware.

I have flashed the A54 with Samsung stock firmware, which removed all the metro junk and splash screen as well.

In fact, you install At&T, Tmobile, or Verizon on an unlocked A54. Everything is available on SamFw.
Have you been able to use it in Verizon network? My metro A54 works on AT&T and TMobile, but not Verizon. I've been wondering if it's because it's not on their white list. When I type in IMEI on verizon'e BYOP site, they tell me the phone won't work. That suggests it's not just a firmware issue.

It has to do with Verizon's whitelist. I have/had the following Metro phones (besides the iPhones which should work with all US carriers after unlocked):
* A54: works with AT&T, T-mo. Not compatible with Verizon, although it's accepted by Tracfone (owned by Verizon) to use with a Tracfone/Verizon BYOP SIM.
* Nord N30: accepted by all US carriers/MVNOs.
* Nokia G400: accepted only by T-mo/MVNOs.
* Moto Razr: accepted by T-mo/MVNOs, Verizon (but not Visible), Tracfone/Verizon.

A forum member sent me a message asking how to file a complaint with the FCC. I've replied to him but I'm posting the info below in case someone needs to file a complaint against Metro.

It's very easy. Go to https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us under File A Complaint, select Phone Issues, choose the company involved, for issues with Promos, I typically select Other and put in "False Advertising". Describe the problem and attach any applicable documents, email, screenshots. The FCC usually logs your complaint then forward it to the company within 48 hrs. Those companies don't want to get on the bad side of the FCC so they respond quite promptly.
