It was more common in the days of Slickdeals yore, that folks would comment to say that not everything in a sale was a deal so therefore, we should not have posted the general sale. But then, community members that did have their eye on something personally and kept it in their cart (that item may not have been a "slickdeal" but was a need) that were waiting to buy when a general sale came around would miss it.
Then there are community members that want to wait for a notification of a price drop of an individual item (Nike Air Force 1, for example). I think both community posters and staff don't post "every item individually", but rather, they strive to post items that stand out pricewise. A deal poster generally can't convey all of the possibilities of an apparel sale in a title, so that a reader can fully grasp the true content of the sale. Once you have typed Nike Men's and Women's Running Shoes, much of that title is used up before you have even one item there. And if they aren't planning on buying a specific item that day, but there is another item that is a stellar price (like golf shoes) or a better item than they were planning on buying for a better price, if they can't see it in the title, would they know to look for it?
The other thing that happens, and happens often, is that sites drop prices or change stock mid sale, and not everyone has time all day every day to monitor these sales in case their favorite item happens to pop up. Individual posts need to be made for these items or they are otherwise lost. In addition to that, some people see great deals in some items, where others don't. I could be browsing and see a great deal for a laptop, but not post it because I just didn't know it was a great deal.
And even if someone did want to monitor the sale all day, every day, if only one thread was made for the sale, what would happen if they missed that solitary post? How would they know to even look and on what day(s)?
