It doesn't start working until the 15th.
If you are a REI member, consider voting against the upcoming board member candidates, particularly the ex-Fanatics CEO.

Can you provide some additional context as to why you feel so strongly about voting against these candidates?

It worked on my Garmin bike computer, wasn't expecting it to because it said it excluded gps devices. So give it a try and see what happens.

REI has been really terrible for the last 3-4 years for me. I moved overseas and want to shop at REI for what its mission is. So when I see a sale I order for the family, same shirt with multiple quantities and sizes. REI just cancels my orders saying they need to protect every member's interest, hinting that I am a scalper.

While I understand they want everyone to get a chance, they could had easily limited purchase quantity instead of having me placing multiples of the same items that get cancelled until they run out of stock and wasting my time. Also, they have no issue when I bought 15 of the same shirt at regular price, defeating their argument because I don't have visibility into their inventory regardless if the item is on sale or not.

No but they do update the list of brand and category exclusions in the fineprint. Vendors can opt out.

Why do people want to game the system? Eventually, we will lose all the perks of unlimited returns, longer return periods and so on. Costco is already cracking down on these practices. REI has stopped its life time return. For short-term gains, we are forcing businesses to be more customer-unfriendly.
cathmandanMaybe. But making it a pillar of your business strategy means you're choosing it at the expense of much better proven strategies.
Just selfishness. The reality is that lots of people suck, and supposedly eventually 'someone' is going to ruin a good thing. If you help contribute to the ruining, you get to pocket that little extra bonus before it all gets inevitably ruined faster. Kind of a small scale of 'socialism only works in theory' because some people are always going to be egotistical dinguses.

Can the business models last long term? Maybe if we had a different accountability system for the worst offenders? I think then you run into the issue of the people who willingly encourage creating such consumer friendly business models aren't the same ones who want to hound the worst consumers instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt. And eventually word gets out and the cost-benefit of those policies pays the price.

Thanks for highlighting this! Never voted before and just submitted my vote against all three candidates including "Fanatics Doug Mack" - with his "skillset" he would definitely further drive REI into the ground! Hope that message gets circulated on other platforms too.
