"Profile" on "Menu" drop down??

61 95 March 10, 2024 at 06:33 AM
99.99% of time I try to access on my about 6yo phone. (No room for apps on phone.) I RARELY have problems on other sites & NO problems like on THIS site since all of the "improvements."

The ONLY way I can get to Account/Profile page is to FINALLY remember how to get to THIS forum, remember when ads show up beneath 3-4 posts that there are more below, THEN to happen across a post that actually HAS A LINK to profile page.

WHY isn't there an Account or Profile page option on the drop down menu on upper page to right of search bar?????

& WHAT does the, I think it says, "SignUp" tab allegedly do? It certainly doesn't take me to my profile page.

I didn't mind the daily emails on postings to one category going to my PROMOTIONS email tab. But when it continued going to my primary email tab & I sent yall email ....I was told there wasn't any reason for it to go to main tab instead of promotions. Was told apparently was MY email's fault....yet, the ONLY email suddenly doing this was & STILL is from THIS site. In the months since then, I've continued (off/on) to find out HOW to just stop these emails....the added aggravation of not being able to easily find the Profile page is insult to injury.

I (literally) ACCIDENTALLY found a link a bit earlier today to my profile that had an option to pause subscription emails but wanted a specific date. SOMEHOW got to a page that had list of slide-tabs with different email options....NO idea how I got there or WHERE it is..

Besides going to primary tab on my email box, the email itself STILL has SEVERAL lines in EACH link even though I saw a post about that a while back on a forum. So THAT has NOT been fixed, either. Plus, the "unsubscribe" link still just takes you to registration/log-in page with NO info on how to unsubscribe from the offending email.

Yall rolled this "new, improved" stuff out with NO CLEAR way to let people make changes or even to find their profile page, much less send a notice ahead of time OR instructions to people through email of "Hey, we're gonna make your life better, but if you want to undo our new do, then here's how....."

IF I was FINALLY successful in STOPPING the long drawn out email, I don't know if I'll check back for answer or not. However, you would likely have some less irritated people if they could find the profile page under the drop down menu.

When/if yall ever finish this long overhaul of the site, you might send an email out to folks. Right now, it's harder to navigate than the constant highway construction on the freeways in Houston, TX area. -- a person shouldn't have to work hard to spend OR save money.

hi there thanks for the feedback.

I know it's not intuitive but the "sign up" tab (eventually) takes you to the log in page. you need to click in the indicated location under the continue button "Already a member? Log In".

Once logged in "Sign Up" turns into your username with a dropdown for easy access to profile, inbox, etc.

The good news is that I believe changes to this experience are in the pipeline to improve things for existing members, but I have no eta on when they might be released.

edit: To access your email subscription settings, once logged in as per the above, choose "Settings and Options" from the profile dropdown menu, which will take you to a page that has the link to the "Email Settings" page (the page with the sliders you were referring to). It sounds like you may wish to turn off the newsletter(s) if they are not of interest to you.
