I once did an experiment, weighing these with and without shells. It is approximately 50% shells, within a fraction of a percentile.

So when you compare cost-per-ounce, double it to compare to shell-less pistachios.

Yes....48 oz......3 lbs..... 1.36078 Kg..... 0.214286 Stones.
Aldi USED to have sales.... for $6
The $5 were rare and only on Fridays.
IDK... maybe it was an item sold at a loss to get people in the store.

is this cheaper than costco, anyone know?
My Costco only carries the salt and pepper version from this brand, which I got by mistake once and ended up really liking. It's more expensive. Their Kirkland brand is also a little more expensive than this sale price. Both Costco offerings are fine, but at this price ($11.03 on S&S) this is a no-brainer for me.

I've never encountered burnt nuts or any other issues with this brand.

Are the ones sold at Aldi coming from the "Wonderful" brand? If not, the comparison does not make any sense.

This company is run by billionaires that do some questionable things with the public water supply in California. https://perfectunion.us/how-this-...er-supply/ I don't buy their products anymore.

I appreciate this analysis. So what you're saying is that in this package, there is approx. 24oz of pistachios without the shell for $12.35.

Compare that to this 24oz package of shelled pistachios for $15.18 after 5% off for S&S: https://www.amazon.com/Wonderful-...B004HZFASG

So you're basically paying a $3 premium to have it already shelled for you. But at the same time, this is comparing this product that's currently on sale, and the shelled pistachios that are not on sale.

Exactly. And you can decide if it's worth the premium. Kind of an apples-to-apples comparison on a more level field.

Not sure if it's truly apples-to-apples, I find they taste different and I prefer the taste of in-shell pastachios.
