Trying to set up deal alert for Kindle but I'm getting alerts for e-books, not the device

I am trying to set up a deal alert for a Kindle e-reader. I added an alert for Kindle in Kindle in keywords, but i'm still getting e-book alerts. Any way to set this alert so it is just for the Kindle device and not the books?

You could try making the keyword something like:
kindle e-reader -ebook
that way it would not match for the phrase ebook. plus with e-reader called out that is more likely to be an actual device.

You could also try adding the category "Computers > tablets & E-readers"
Make sure to add the category and not just a keyword though.

thebritishguy gave a good suggestion but if the above advice doesn't work, or you don't get good results, try just:
Kindle -(ebook|"e-book"|"e-books"|ebooks) or if you prefer: Kindle -ebook -ebooks -"e-book" -"e-books"
and set the alert to only look in the Hot Deals forum, since most of the free ebooks are posted in the Free Digital Goods forum. You may still get other stuff since Kindle is mentioned in at lot of ebook deals that you pay for too, not just freebies, or sometimes users post a deal for say a tablet stand or chargers and say that they can charge your kindle etc but that will hopefully make the alert ignore most threads that mention ebooks at least.

Unfortunately not most or not all OPs say the word 'e-reader' in their posts, so if you do include the word e-reader in your keywords it will likely miss some deals or if you set it to only include threads with the e-reader category tag too since a lot of users also do not include that category tag either with they submit their threads (our QA team ends up having to add that category quite often for the ereader deals).

If you're just looking for the basic Kindle ereader, it'll be hard to weed out the ebooks as you've noticed, if the above suggestions don't help. However, if you're looking for any of the other Kindles such as the PaperWhite, the Oasis or the Scribe, you can do something like:
Kindle Paperwhite|Oasis|Scribe
which will force the deal alert to look only for deals that mention BOTH Kindle and also one of the other words too, which should eliminate most ebook only deals and also a lot of the threads for things like chargers where the OP says it'll charge your Kindle too.

I'd suggest testing each of the options for a short bit and see if any of the above options work better for you. Good luck Smilie
