Will only use it for navigation, music/podcast streaming, check gas prices, no gaming. Possibly Android Auto, if this setup works.
Figured at this price, I can upgrade to a new tablet every few years, as needed. I would think this would be better than any stock/aftermarket head unit, maybe.
Also, if you click on "View More" on Samsung's product page, it's literally mentioned "TFT" at the beginning section of the specs. No hiding.
Moral of the story: IPS is only one factor of the three that determines the optical quality with respect to viewing angle. so, you better off checking it out in real life before purchasing.
Yes, this TCL 10.1" Tab 10 5G Tablet is unlocked for any GSM carrier.

Here is my area of concern. The CPU is weak. The storage is weak (32GB eMMC). The display may not be bright enough. Ultimately you'll be the one to decide if the tablet is good enough for you.
As for me, I'll pass due to 1, the speakers are weak; 2, the microphone is weak. Those are not problem in your usage, but impede mine.

1) The brightness may not be fully up to the task when it's really bright outside which can be slightly circumvented with a matte screen protector.
2) According to the product page, it only supports GPS, which is completely fine, but other tablets (mostly all of the Samsung ones) support multiple satellite systems like Beidou, Glonass, which can help further accuracy.
3) Chipset can be slightly sluggish, but for navigation and other simple stuff, it should do fine.
I'm currently using a Samsung Tab A7 Lite currently for my head unit and it works absolutely fine. The cpu on my a7 is even slower than the TCL. Brightness can be an issue due to the glossiness, but the matte screen protector helps a ton.

(Samsung buries the fact that the A9+ has a TFT display on the specifications of the product page by not specifying the type of the display and by omitting the viewing angles).
Returned the next day.
mediatek makes fast chips and slow lower end ones. so does qualcomm (snapdragon). has nothing to do with the brand. it's like saying my chevy loses to a ford mustang therefore all chevy's are slower than all fords, ignoring that corvettes and Camaros and pintos exist
the kompanio 800t in this i cant get a read on, seems very rare. if anything it looks like it might not be awful. there are low end tablets with awful chips. 4gb ram is a negative too tho, tho expected at the price.

There is the "Lincplus T3" or "iplay 50 mini pro NFE" ONLY TWO budget tablets to consider.
The Lincplus T3 is cheaper then this deal and is a WAY BETTER tablet.
And I have both of those tablets and completely recommend both. Both are available at Amazon.
