Wasn't anticipating replying to a scratching post thread, but this one is actually pretty great. Higher than most, and our cats seem to enjoy the stretch, very durable and actually looks decent for what it is.

These are fantastic! I purchased one in Dec 2015 for $32 (probably a SlickDeal). I'd say it was in good shape until maybe 2021? The middle section is almost completely worn away, but it is still in use. We were able to train our cats away from clawing the woodwork, though they still sometimes go for furniture when they are being neurotic. Definitely buying one from this deal.

So he started scratching and pulling at the carpet next to it. I switched back to one with carpet on the bottom. It's good quality and looks nice though.

We have three with one laying horizontally. You should try removing the base and knocking it over.

I had one where the top portion was destroyed, yet bottom looked like new. I took the top, and bottom platforms off, reversed them, and used the platform holes as my templates to reverse the sides. Marked with a pencil, grabbed my drill, and doubled the life of my post. Note, though, because the top section(now bottom) was shedding, I had wrapped packaging tape around the destroyed section.
