Call me paranoid but Amazon has too many fake products to risk something like this on it
Yeah - there's a chance you may never see that seller again.
It's not unusual for Amazon sellers to lie and sell fake products and then disappear when issues come up.

Those certs are garbage. I would assume the glasses to be garbage. The certificating body listed website isn't even functional. If you start to look into the company you can quickly see (pun intended) that they have no real proof that they are ISO Certified. Beware.

Update, I just looked into Yaapro Inc (the customer on the "certs") and they were formed in New York years ago, but it's not even an active business. They haven't filed required annual requirements with the state since 2018. This is definitely bad news.

I bought glasses for the last eclipse here in 2017 off Amazon. I was refunded my money because of somebody else's b.s. complaints over labels. The glasses were fine. Just buy and quit whining.

How did this hit Frontpage?
These are for sale at walmart for $0.25 or less, and free at most libraries.

I'd think twice (well many more times) about looking directly at the sun with ANY of these online glasses. Is it worth burning your retina and losing vision for the rest of your life?

American Astronomical Society recommended sellers and alert
https://eclipse.aas.org/eye-safet...rs-filters

https://aas.org/press/american-as...se-glasses

Until recently, the only counterfeit products we knew of were cardboard-frame eclipse glasses made by an unidentified factory in China but printed with "Mfg. by: American Paper Optics" (APO) on them. APO is one of the major U.S. manufacturers of safe solar viewers and prints its name and address on its eclipse glasses, whereas the Chinese copycat products have APO's name but not its address. Thankfully, these particular counterfeits appear to be safe.

"In recent days it has become clear that one or more unidentified factories in China are now producing counterfeit eclipse glasses printed with the name and address of a different Chinese factory, Cangnan County Qiwei Craft Co., which is known to manufacture safe products. Some also copy Qiwei's artwork, and some include the name and/or logo of Qiwei's principal North American distributor, Solar Eclipse International, Canada (SEIC).

Some of these newly identified counterfeits are indistinguishable from genuine Qiwei products and appear to be safe. Others look like Qiwei's eclipse glasses, but when you put them on, you realize they are no darker than ordinary sunglasses. So, these products are not just counterfeit, but also fake –– they're sold as eclipse glasses, but they are not safe for solar viewing."

Thanks for the research but it's still pretty scary to buy something that says counter feit are safe because even as a Chinese American I don't trust the Chinese
