Ymmv as this may be in select stores only but all stores near me in CT are running the same price. Briggs and Stratton Pressure Washer surface cleaner is clearance for $21.92. Original price seems suspiciously high, but for just over 20 dollars I am more than willing to give this a shot.

Well, I have two surface cleaners, the first one I bought with no wheels has tons of drag on it. The second one with wheels just glides and is effortless to use comparatively. The conclusion that one is better than the other isn't hard to make.
The reason you are most likely getting drag is because you are using the wrong size.

Maybe, hopefully, when I eventually get a stronger pressure washer maybe the first one will work right.

I have had this exact one for at least 8-10 years. I use a Excell with a Honda engine at 2600 psi. It works fine without wheels. Someone equated it to an air hockey Puck. That's what it is like. It doesn't need wheels if you have a decent pressure washer. I may go buy another as a back up. Only time I have had to fix this is when I went too far over a deck or a rock pathway and the metal tube with the jets at the end ends up at an angle and spins into the decking or rock. My fault.

Definitely! A larger one should work better with a higher power pressure washer. Also, picking the right chemicals can make a huge difference is how easy it is to watch a surface.

Not maybe. It's a fact you bought a tool without having the equipment to support it. No need to blame the tool for your user error.

Picked one of these up yesterday in upstate New York. Looking forward to using it. Hard to believe it was ever worth 80 bucks!

Still $88 at the 6 closest stores to me. I have a similar one but lent it out again and not sure if/when I'll get it back. For this price I would like to get another.

Hmm, wimpy eh ? Maybe, but is there a reason why the commercial surface cleaners that run on trailer mounted units, have wheels ? Must be some reason why the pro surface cleaners have wheels. Maybe because it works ? Don't get me wrong, there are a few pro surface cleaners without wheels, but they are the under $1000. All the one's I can see that are above $1k all have wheels. So I guess only the cheaper low end units don't have wheels ? I dunno, maybe look up pro units and see for yourself ?
I've used some of those pro grade ones, the wheels are mainly to be able to move the unit around when you're not washing. With a strong enough pressure washer, they float like an air hockey puck like others are describing.

Not sure I agree completely.... I just bought and used this today. There was zero resistance, likely from the jets lifting it off the surface from the pressure.

It honestly felt like sliding a puck on an air hockey table.

I'm headed to buy a second one for the price so I have it if this ever wears out.
Same thing with me I have used the one that rides some bristles super easy to move back-and-forth

Thanks for posting this. Had my pressure washer out over the weekend and could not find my regular surface cleaner in the garage. Considered buying a replacement but prices have more than doubled in last 3-4 years. When I saw your post, I immediately drove to the store and bought two of them at the stated price. Had to hunt around the local stores to find one but I'm a happy camper (or make that cleaner) now.

Awesome, and glad you were able to find them. I ended up doing the same as you and bought a second one as well.

Had the karcher one in my Amazon account forever, but this way I was able to get 2 for even less.

Just as an fyi to those that have never used these..... the cheap one's run on brush bristles, meaning it's weight is supported by bristles so drag is really high when you try to use it. After using your first one that rides on bristles you will be convinced to go buy one that rides on wheels. Save your money and just get one that rides on wheels to begin with.
I have one and it glides when in use. I actually have to use light downward pressure to keep it from lifting off the ground.

Perhaps you have an underpowered pressure washer?

Mine is 3300psi @ 3.5GPM

Lol, yeah, mine is electric and is significantly weaker than your unit. Something like 1500psi at .9gpm. I guess this will work better when I finally unbox my gas unit. Not quite as strong as yours though 2800psi at 2.4gpm. Good thing I didn't throw away the first unit I bought without wheels, it might work with the gas unit.
