Nah. Meets all major specifications for the newest engines. But have fun paying extra for the big brands so they can continue to bombard you with advertisements that make you buy their products and make you (wrongly) feel superior for having done so.

Will it last 20k miles? I drive a lot of highway in long stretches.
It's cycles of cooling and heating that matter, so potentially you can get away with it, but nothing would convince me to try this on my own car. I'd limit it to at least, at bare minimum, 2 oil changes per year. So if you do 20k per year, it'd be a 10k oil change with exclusively highway miles. Again, I wouldn't ever do this for a car I need to run. If you're curious and try this out, I'd be interested in your results if you post them online.

120k in 3 years? Is he a long distance Uber driver?
40k per year with 3k oil changes- I'm impressed he finds time to do it himself- that's more than 1 per month on average. That's dedication, and I hope they get treated for their ocd. It's a Toyota, I think you can get away with more than 3k intervals…

Years ago 4-pack was $48.99, purchased so many... inflation sucks
If they mess up your order like they did mine, maybe you'll get 8 for $64. All praise the rng on that one, thanks Costco. It's like buying 5quarts in 1995.

especially since these have to be highway miles.

$2 saving is equivalent to one hot dog combo plus 2 bottles of water from the vending machine. Of course, you run the risk of ending up with hundred of dollars shopping spree...
he is not wrong. each time i enter Costco, will always end up spending $300

M1 Does not use BIV PAO 100% in EP and either AF. Its mostly GIII+ and I am not even sure its GTL. They are blends.

In any case unless you own a C8 corvette which requires dexos R or a euro spec model it doesn't really matter all these oils meet API and in the case this one dexos 1 gen 3 specs which means it is good for the plebs.

Of course M1 is a fine oil, but so are the warren versions. I use both depending upon the rebate cost/price at the time along w/ Pennzoil.
NOT TRUE! SDS for 0w20 EP shows 20-30% PAO (Cas No. 68649-12-7).

ProjectFarm did a video [youtube.com]on Kirkland oil. Enthusiasts also did one [youtube.com].

TLDR is yes it's perfectly fine. The vast vast vast majority of people will be perfectly fine with Kirkland oil. Unless you have a supercar.
I was always wondering why oil companies spend millions on R&D and test equipment instead of just cooking oil in the coffee pots?

He's working with what he has, obviously. Would you feel better if even this sort of rudimentary analysis didn't exist at all?

I have a 2009 Corolla and at 150k miles, it burns a quart every 3k miles roughly if I use the recommended 0w-20. I was reading on Reddit that most people with this car were running 5w-30 just fine and the engine was quieter, ran smoother, and no longer burned oil to that extent. Might give 5w-30 a shot since it's not that far off.

Too much storage real estate. $16 5qt just buy as needed from Walmart $16.78 per 5qt jug synthetic blend. If it was $10 per jug...maybe. Live for today tomorrow isnt guaranteed!!!

That's a synthetic blend where we aren't sure what the blend percentages are. 4x 5qt jugs doesn't take up too much space and is good if you're in a household with multiple cars that take the same weight oil.
