Dell might have the best price we've ever seen for a prebuilt gaming PC equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card. Right now you can get a Dell XPS gaming PC with this coveted GPU for only $2294.99 shipped after a 10% off coupon code "10OFFCLEAR". RTX 4090 GPUs are currently difficult to find at MSRP; right now, a 4090 GPU on Amazon sells at a $300-$500 markup. If this is the GPU you really want, you will definitely save money by getting this prebuilt PC like this one instead of going the DIY route.

If the GPU is worth the $1600 MSRP (it's not, unless you are making money with the GPU, but that's where the market is currently), that puts the rest of the computer at $700. That is assuming you can buy a 4090 for MSRP, which isn't possible very often. You're looking at maybe $1800 minimum.

With current prices, you can build a comparable machine for about $2600 (plus money for Windows 11, a keyboard, and mouse). Dell's offering saves you about $300 over this:

Intel Core i7-13700 2.1 GHz 16-Core Processor
ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 72.8 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
ASRock B760M-H/M.2 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
Crucial CT2K8G48C40U5 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR5-4800 CL40 Memory
TEAMGROUP MP33 512 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
MSI GAMING TRIO GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB Video Card
Thermaltake Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower Case
Deepcool PX1000G 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Total for that build with current prices is $2636.75.
I used to be a builder, now I'd go pre-made. Time > Money
some say this is ugly, but the RGB puke on every "gaming" PC looks ugly to me. This is a good deal for what it is. Can't build it cheaper.

I am going to upgrade the ram. This is what I am leaning to. Thoughts?

Will it accept 96GB? Specs say "up to 64GB", but I'm not sure if that's an actual limitation or just the max they offer as a configuration.

Here is a review.

Works in Dell XPS 8960!
Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2023

I have a Dell XPS 8960 with a 13700k and the 2*48GB Ram is working great at 5200mhz. I didn't have to adjust anything in the BIOS or any settings. I just took out my old ram ,installed this and it works great. Will report back if anything changes but working great so far!

For the less tech-savy or too lazy to build. It's a better deal to buy from Dell...

I believe it's better to build yourself like I did ,purchased from Microcenter components with discount

RAM and NVMe is cheap. Seems like a lot of money to ask for only 16GB and 512Gb.

Windows alone is going eat up at least 6-8Gb RAM.

Of course it's better, but when you reached an age where time is more valuable, that's the easy way out to have something that just worked, maybe not be the best part etc, but it works and serves its purpose..

Did you forget people can sell their old PCs to recover costs like every freaking normal person would?
And did you forget not everyone does that? My PC components eventually become hand-me-downs to my baby cousins. To each their own, some folks will just rather not deal with building a PC, and this would be a good deal. My response is to folks who try to compare this with DIY parts. If you can build your own PC, and you are capable of doing upgrades, the value of the components in this prebuilt is much less than comparable DIY parts.

4% is great, but the uptick from 3.4% is bad. If you look at the history of unemployment, the rise in unemployment increases exponentially. It means we already passed peak employment and are in the upswing phase.

I'm not in market for this pc, but just want to add that older Dell XPS were well made. I have an XPS 8700 as my main pc, its maybe 10yr old now. Its been in pretty much daily use all this time. I've added an ssd, 2 hdd, upgraded video card.

I know its not the best mobo or case or psu, but it works great. And most importantly, its been trouble free and its whisper quiet. I paid less than the parts would cost to build at the time, and no pc I've built has been as trouble free. esp the noise levels from pc's back then.

When I look at current XPS they don't seem that attractive and lack the tool free cases etc.

I wish the custom builders like ibuypower had an option to build one without a gpu and with basic parts. A small premium is perfectly ok for peace of mind and service for those who don't want to diy.
