i'm not a fan of having to slide the poles through sleeves as the poles always seem to get hung up sliding them in and out. I prefer clips to the sleeves.

Seriously that's the reason.

By omitting actual windows (by having the rainfly extend to the ground) its more suited for snow conditions (wind and snow).

You can see the sleeves in the picture, specifically the one that has the sunglasses in the ceiling net.
