In comparison, Frontier Airlines' free personal item dimensions are 14 X 8 X 18 inches. So this fits within that constraint.

They do check aggressively. And I've had very good and very bad experiences during my flights with them. Having said that, unless they change the dimensions allowed, you can always prove it by inserting it in the guide holder they have at the gates.

Can I order multiple items to hit the $35 free shipping minimum and then just return the extra items in store? Is this a hack (although annoying bc of having to go in store) or will they charge me for shipping when I return the extra items in store?

Just don't overstuff it and you're fine. How is it at the discretion of the clerk, they can't charge you if it fits in the sizer. I use takeoff luggage for frontier that is the exact dimensions for the sizer and have never had an issue

I've seen lots of TikToks of them doing it to passengers. Bag fits perfect and clerk says it doesn't. It's actually a great class action for an enterprising attorney.

They just say it doesn't fit and deny boarding if you don't pay.
