Great deal for both - i bought the 48 - not sure why most stores have the 48 for less money than the 35 count - but i got the deal so i don't shake head really care.

I have their other backpack made of lighter 600 fabric, use it as my everyday backpack. Still looks like new after 2 years using non-stop, except the zipper pulls that lost all the paint. I've replaced those with some cheap ones from Ali. I can imagine these 1680 ones are built like tanks and will last forever

35 is a nicer bag, but only for larger tools. The molded rubber bottom is the best feature of it and it has more back support. I have both and think it should cost more, however i find the 48 more useful since the smaller pockets work better for my use case.

Any input on which would be better for an IT guy? Laptop, screwdriver set, network tools like crimper, toner, cable tester, various things like USB drives, video adapter cables, etc? TIA

Could anyone with kids comment on whether this bag would work well as a diaper bag?

35 pocket model is the only one with a laptop compartment. It would work really well for you I'd imagine 👍

Thanks and repped, didn't notice that. Accidentally ordered the 35 before I posted that question, but that helped me avoid cancelling my order Smilie

35 pocket will comfortably fit 16" screwdrivers, up to 18". 48 pocket will fit 12" up to 13". For comparison, the amzn branded denali backpack (priced around ~$34 on woot when featured) fits 13" up to 15". These Steelehead tool bags pop up on woot every other month, 35 pocket is usually priced around $56 (price i bought at). 48 is at its usual price i believe; its more of a backpack/toolbag hybrid, wouldn't recommend for lugging around long distances.
