For a brand new set of forged irons that compete against P790, T2/300, Mizuno Pro 225's, etc which are all $1200+ it's a great deal. The Wilson brand won't carry the same resale value but this is cheaper than a set of similar used clubs

This is a very slick price for the best irons Wilson makes.

However like all non cavity back forged irons, these are not for beginners.

It's been my experience in my long and sordid journey with golf, that the head doesn't have nearly as much to do with handicap-friendliness of the club as the flex of the shaft. These clubs with a stiff shaft are for low handicappers. If you could get them in a regular flex, then it would probably open it up to mid-cappers. Wilson makes a great club and they're just as good as anything else out there. Not as popular at the country clubs because they don't have as many celebrity endorsements and bag cache. If you already know that you can play standard length clubs, and are looking for a nice pair of forged sticks, you won't do better than this for this price.

Bought these (reg flex) before last season for around $800 new. I went from a 19 HC to 16 on these through the year. Definitely not as much forgiveness as game improvements but they look more player like and a very soft. While Wilson does not currently have the market cache as the major brands, those who know golf show a lot of respect for their irons. I think 500 is a great price.

Was looking for a new iron set to replace my old ones. It can be hard to find golf clubs at this price point that are left handed. If you are looking for irons under $500 you are usually stuck with either Tour Edge, Cobra, or Wilson. The choices are very limited. How forgiving are these D9 Irons?

I'm a 9 handicap and I got these last year. I got them because the lofts aren't super strong like other irons are now. I also paid 800 for them but that included customization. I'm pleased with them and they look great! I think they look cleaner than any of the comparable irons. If you are looking for distance these aren't your irons. These are for someone who is looking for feel and consistency.

Um, Cobra makes an excellent iron and WS has some of the best forging. Go look at golf digest hot list, Cobra is up there every year for 10-15 years.
