Anytime I see an HP deal, I'll repeat what I've posted before. The laptops are great but things will sour quickly if you have to deal with customer service.
I had a bad experience with the last HP I bought. An HP Envy x360 purchased in 2020. It's the first laptop I've ever used that had the hinges break. It was still under warranty so it got the hinges repaired. But HP sent it back with a dent in one corner. The damage must have occurred before packaging because the laptop was secure in all the packaging and there was no box damage. I tried to get it repaired again but got tired of the back and forth with customer service about what happened, why it happened, where it happened, when it happened, etc. and decided to cut my losses. I sold that laptop and got a different brand. Up until it broke, I really liked that laptop but I won't be buying from HP again. They made it as difficult as possible to get any help when they should have bent over backwards. The other issue was they initially told me it was going to be a 2 month repair time because of back-ordered parts, which should tell you about the number of hinge breaks they were dealing with.
No USB 4 or Thunderbolt? What a missed opportunity on these AMD machines.

We are the problem. We tolerate their shyt. They make their problems our problems, wear us out, make us give up and move on. This is the result. One time i bought ANUS. Something happened within the first month. ANUS said i have to pay return shipping. I said not my problem. 6 weeks later ANUS returned my brand new laptop but it looked like it got dragged on the ground tied to a car. Multiple scuffs deep scratches. I showed pictures of it before i sent it. Again ANUS paid for shipping and returned it after a few weeks. Still wasn't satisfactory condition and it was a different used replacement. I said i bought BRAND NEW, not used, and demanded a brand new replacement. By then ANUS no longer had this model in stock and sent me a brand new upgraded model, which also broke in the hinges within weeks. I got rid of it and never bought another laptop since 2008. In almost 4+ months of playing RMA ping pong with ANUS i didn't get much use out of my laptop. I'll skip HP until they improve customer service. Their problems are not our problems.

Two of my last three laptops have been HP premium models and both have had substantial issues - the first had heat issues and my current Spectre x360 has faulty speakers, which I've had repaired/replaced once under warranty only for it to have failed again past warranty. Supposedly US brands have made a comeback relative to Asian brands, but I don't know that I can trust getting another HP. I had a premium ASUS in between the two HP's that functioned flawlessly for many years, but apparently ASUS's quality has fallen in recent years, so now I have no idea what brand to trust for my next laptop.

I learned my lesson to avoid buying new, that's for sure.
It's unfortunate because up until the break, I was very happy with the laptop.
I ended up getting a used ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED. It's been great but if it breaks, I won't be too upset since it was less than half of what I paid for the Envy.
I also rarely shut the laptop lid unless I need to since I have PTSD from the HP experience.

I'm currently dealing with a broken hinge on a x360. Still like the laptop, but it cracked the digitizer when it broke and for the life of me I can't find a replacement that will work with the pen.

Sorry to hear that. I did a search when my hinge broke and saw there were many people having the same issue.
Luckily, I had the foresight to buy the extended warranty otherwise I would have had to pay for the repair outright.
Meanwhile, the Lenovo laptop I bought for my kid about 4 years ago has probably had its lid open and shut 15,000 times - and not delicately I should add - and appears to be indestructible.

You're correct I had to deal with them when I purchased HP spectre.
Long story short, I have dealt with most of the big laptop companies customer service over the last 20 years, including HP, Lenovo, Dell, Apple & Microsoft.
Hands down Lenovo is the worst among all the above companies.
They just disconnect the phone after putting you on hold for 15 mins, that means your already wasted more than 30 mins because you can't get hold of them for 15-20 mins and then, the cycle repeats.
Apple and Microsoft are better than others.

K so what is the better brand you went with?
Why are people always so obtuse about mentioning specific brands lol?

Lenovo is a company whose quality has degraded immensely. As far as their customer service goes, like you mentioned, it doesn't exist.
