It isn't a full tang tool. The metal ends roughly where the plastic begins. Perhaps you have very soft well aerated soil. If you have clay or tough soil, this WILL break. I purchased a different weed extractor (same concept) that is full tang and has a wooden handle, and it's on its 6th season of hard use.
We have 2 of these. We are semi retired and we weed almost everyday (sadly). These are the best by design and quality. The tool is solid throughout. I do not see how yours broke. I have used many cheaper designs and brand but this is definitely the best manual weeder on the market.
The tool that I replaced this plastic Fiskars tool with is a WORKPRO. It's $9 on Amazon.

I bought this last sale and it works surprisingly well for it's intended purpose. Shove the front of it into the dirt and right up to the root, pivot the handle down, and weed extracted. It won't pull out the biggest ones, but smaller garden weeds that are sometimes hard to get out by the roots are done for.

This is trash, the handle snapped on the first use. Fiskars usually makes decent tools, this is certainly an exception.

Thanks for the comments! I know I've personally used a similar Fiskars digging tool in the past and it's been solid through the years

I'm not saying the fiskars is a better product but that workpro surely isn't full tang… I'll still get one on your recommendation though!

No, possibly not "full", and I'm not willing to break the handle off to to inspect, but I will say it feels very solid.
