Curious to hear what you think. I ended up with the (quickly sold out) $699 17" model. But this was sure tempting… maybe if it had a matte display.
So far it feels like a good purchase. The screen is gorgeous of course - I would have preferred a non-glossy finish but at home reflections from light sources hasn't been an issue. Amazing how light it is, but it is still quite sturdy. I've seen reviews of earlier LG Grams and how bendy the case case be, but this 2024 version has almost no flex at all.

I haven't had had much chance to stress it so far, but in general use the fans barely run at all. I'll soon find out how noisy it gets when building a Lightroom catalog or rendering a video.

My only real annoyance is that at the original price point the updated 4050 GPU should have been included - they aren't going to compete with the Samsung Book4 Ultra using a two year old GPU. But at this discounted price I'm OK with it.

You may have an option in the Intel Graphics Command center that will disable to LG dynamic screen dimming you mentioned here. It is located in Intel Graphics Command Center > System > Power > Display Power Savings. Turn the setting to Off.
Great tip! Thanks!!

I needed to update my Command Center first. I also needed to remember which driver to download. After an install and reboot, I did as you suggested. I also changed "Power Efficiency" to "3". It no longer dims when on battery. Nice!

I wonder if this can play COD at max spec if you turn it down to 1080P.
Yes and no. It technically will support it…your frame rates will absolutely suck.

This same model is on sale for $1,299 at Costco right now - seriously considering it to replace a 3yo Gram (non-pro). Anyone who bought it over the summer have any feedback? https://www.costco.com/lg-gram-pr...57954.html

Ended up pulling the trigger on this. There were a few other decent deals recently, but each had a deal breaker for me (16GB soldered RAM, no 2nd SSD slot) and this was the first one that met my requirements, plus being non-touch I don't have to worry about seeing the digitizer.

And at worst I have 90 days to change my mind and get something with a better GPU and/or cooling. But as my most demanding apps are the occasional Lightroom and Photoshop I should be OK.

Did you ended up keeping it? If so, would you recommend it now? I mainly need it for running multiple VMs
