Checking the Q&A… they're not waterproof. The paint peeled off after the first rain. Another said the paint cracked and peeled off after a month in the sun. Guess they're indoor chairs.
If you don't want to maintain and/or constantly move these around to avoid harsh weather, don't get these made with wood. Spring for HDPE or Polywood. It'll be more than double the price per piece compared to this, but the peace of mind is worth every penny.

edit: Costco has a deal for HDPE version for $115 in warehouse for gray, or $135 online for multiple color options
And polywood is just name brand HDPE too.

I think the quality and durability of the material are similar but the finish and textures are different. I have a Polywood set and recently saw the HDPE set at Costco. Polywood had a texture that's a little more similar to actual lumber. The HDPE one at Costco also has the plastic molding lines on each piece with some loose plastic leftovers from the molding process (can be removed without too much difficulty). I got the Polywood ones from an SD post over a year ago at under $100 a piece, but that price is unlikely to ever come back. If I was still in the market, I would get the Costco $115 HDPE gray chair without hesitation

We got 2 last weekend, super comfortable and appear really durable compared to dealing with wood.

You are correct, but the same brand (Leisureline by Tangent) has other versions that more closely resemble wood (tagged as wood look). Cost a bit more obviously, but still not as much as polywood averages.

That was a hot deal you got though, super nice.
