Although now Metro requires 1-yr wait to unlock.
Wait since when? Why would they make 6 month to suddenly a year requirement? Year requirement unlocks are cancerous.

You need the whole 6 month for cricket or they won't unlock it. IIRC, they won't let you downgrade your plan easily either.

It's only good for people using Cricket, but for everyone else, avoid.
They updated the Unlocking Policy yesterday 5/8/24. https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

I wasn't even flipping phones from Metro. I just loved the idea of getting phones for a great price. I got OP Nord N20, Moto G Stylus 5G, and Samsung A54 all for less than $200. If I were to pay MSRP for these, it would well cost over double or even triple that price.

Phone flippers have to ruin everything. I hate how they abuse good deals.
I can understand what you are saying. At the same time, I don't think it matters to Metro whether you are buying for yourself or flipping. It is an exploitation of their promotion either way. Even if nobody was flipping, they would have eventually made this change once they realized that a lot of people were exploiting their promo to get phones cheap rather than actually joining their service. I've never done the Metro deal until this year and only bought 2 for my parents, so I am not a flipper. I am not taking sides here. I just don't think blaming is necessary.

It matters because flippers do it more frequently. A person doing it for themselves might do one phone every six months. A flipper could be doing a phone a month.

Attached below are screenshots of Metro Unlocking Policy that I took on 5/4/24 and 5/8/24, with the date/time in the lower right corner. You can believe what you want. If that 1-yr policy had been in place since December 9, 2020 there wouldn't be all the posts in SD Metro threads since yesterday talking about the change from 180 days to 1-yr. https://slickdeals.net/f/17325810-metro-by-t-mobile-port-in-new-number-offers-select-smartphone-30-days-service-from-40-free-shipping?p=170753535#post170753535

I think you misunderstood my point. I said it didn't matter "to Metro." Sure you can make any case/arguments, but the point is, either way you are exploiting, and it doesn't make sense to blame one or the other. You are also operating on the assumption that the deal ended because of them. You don't know that. In fact, resellers tend to keep deals to themselves to maximize profits. It's more often the case that regular people get excited and post/share, which spreads the word. This then makes it more likely for a retailer to become aware because it has become public knowledge and a ton of regular people start doing it. Let's not attack anyone based on speculation Smilie

Does anyone know if ANY USB-C to 3mm adapter will work with this or does it have to be DAC? I'm looking for a cheapie on Amazon.

I would be wary of this service, I paid them to unlock a locked AT&T iPhone 13, and not only did their unlock service not work, but then they also never refunded me the $
That sucks. They have a 5 star rating with thousands of reviews on Trustpilot too. I can understand not being to unlock a phone since there's no guarantee but not refunding you when it fails makes them basically scammers.

Another factor to consider is that T-Mobile recently consolidated their acquisition of Mint Mobile, and Metro itself had already been acquired by T-Mobile some time ago. Less competition always leads to less deals not more.

I guess that means only Tracfone deals from HSN and QVC remain as the last bastions of relatively cheap and short wait time to unlock phones. Though their deals for newer models are sparser.

Not true. If you chat an agent once you get the phone, they'll unlock for you. No issue.
Have you ever bought any Metro phones? If yes, describe the steps of logging into your Metro account. What method does a Metro agent use to verify who you are before chatting/talking about your phone?

Any comments or experience on the phone itself? We use Cricket so unlock policy isn't a concern.

I bought one from Metro in January. Its service has expired and it's still locked until July so I only use it occasionally as a media device on WiFi. It has a good, sharp screen, good stereo sounds, the performance is about the top of mid-range phones. There are lots of review videos on YouTube. Below are results of benchmarks that I ran on my phones.

Phone is excellent in my opinion. I bought one from Metro. Very good screen brightness. Very good speakers. E Sim and Expansion slot for extra SD Card.

Although one might find Flitp from Samsung or Moto Razr plus to be more useful because of bigger outer screen. Phone is very compact.
