845 is supposed to be their flagship tool, but from independent tests I've seen, while it is marginally faster, the 850 actually has a bit more torque. If you're doing hundreds of fasteners one right after another, you might notice the speed advantage of the 845 or incredibly tough jobs you might see the torque advantage of the 850. Truth be told though, either tool is fine (or even overkill) for 99% of people.

That said, personally I would (and did) go with the 850 for two reasons. The size is significantly more compact (1.1 inches shorter). It's also a bit lighter (only ~2 oz, but it feels 3-4 oz lighter in hand, likely because with the shorter nose, there's less leverage to the weight). Those factors mean that you can get into tight spots easier and longer jobs are a bit less taxing.
Personally, the extra $10 for peace of mind at home depot makes more sense to me. Woot's customer service leaves a lot to be desired in my experience. If you taken to get a fluke problem tool or battery and you find out a minute too late, you've lost your money, IMHO, and that doesn't even account for model differences that OP pointed out above.

I'm in the market for an impact driver:
845 for $90 on woot
Or
850 for $100 at Home Depot
?

They have different models. Their 20v blowers range from 100 CFM to 450 CFM, and they aren't going to use the same amount of power. Generally that's the sort of thing thats easy to find in reviews though.

I'd say I get 15 min full blast. It's enough for me to blow off after landscaping a small yard and long enough for me to blow my truck off after washing.

I have an extra- any chance you have an angle grinder you'd want to swap for it?

I don't, but I appreciate the offer.
They're offering one in this woot deal though.

I was afraid this would go out of stock (before I read the awesome replies) so I ordered the 845 and the battery kit with the powerstack 1.7 + 5. Hopefully it works out.

Yes it will. From what I can tell from reviews of the fan is that is draws around little under 0.5A on high. Therefore, the batteries in this deal would last about 3.5 to 4 hours with the fan on high. The 5.0 Ah battery (linked in the listing) will last over 10 hours. However, the main benefits of the Powerstack batteries are the capacity for sustained high current draw (and the small size of the 1.7 Ah). I'm not sure you would benefit from this but you are paying a premium. You may be better off getting 3Ah batteries (DCB200) which you can pick up for around $40 and would give you around 7 hours of runtime on high.

Waste of a battery on a low draw fan. Lots of cheaper options for your fan.

Thank you! I live in the south and I wanted to get the fan to use when power goes off. I was going to order the fan, but it doesn't come with batteries! I guess I also need to get a charger too. Just wanted to make sure.

This might be a good battery kit for your needs [woot.com]. Two 5 Ah batteries and a charger for $118. You should get almost 12 hours on high out of each battery.
