Dumb.
I managed to get it stable for a day but then it returned to driver crash. Play World of Warcraft? Crash. Helldivers 2? Crash. Minecraft? Crash.
You can downgrade to DX11 but that cuts gaming performance nearly in half.
AMD GPUs are a mess and you couldn't pay me to buy one right now. Returned my brand new 7900 XTX and bought an Nvidia 4080 Super instead. Not one single issue in days. Finally!
Will these driver issues also affect LLM-related tasks?
What kinds of LLM related tasks? If you mean running small or quantized models locally then NVDA cards are currently much better. If you mean using ChatGPT or calling some hosted LLM API then it doesn't matter.
do i need to upgrade? it's like 4 years old
Been a while since I've bought a computer, and haven't owned an AMD since 2003. TIA and repp for assistance!

This will play any game and most at ultra settings and 4k. If you get them this buy them Red Dead Redemption 2 which is absolutely beautiful at 4k with settings cranked and has amazing replay value. It's also much more appropriate in terms of content for a teen than Rockstar's other big franchise (GTA). In terms of explicit content and the overall morality of the storyline. It's not PG but the game rewards you for having a moral compass.
The storyline is movie quality, but you can spend 100 hours in Chapter 2 just exploring and doing a million side missions and tasks.
Now, that one was a real deal. This one, not so much, IMO.

Sounds like user error to me...
