In all seriousness IMHO you're better off with welding gloves (have been using them for years as oven mitts). Protects your wrists and arms from accidental bumps against something hot as well as protecting your hands.

Here's an example, and you can (of course) do better by watching for sales:

https://www.amazon.com/PerfeSafe-...40?sr=8-40

Once you've used these, you'll never go back to "oven mitts"

BTW these are heat resistant to 930 degrees (vs. 500 for the silicone)

I use square silicone potholders when pruning my prickly pear cactus. I wonder if these are equally thick and would work for that gardening chore. 🤔

If there are not liquids involved I'll all for welding gloves...will save your forearms. I only use the silicone ones if it might get messy. They work great for husking corn while they are still boiling hot...but only the 5 finger style, like the ones below.

I haven't hurt myself trying, but my experience with welding gloves when holding hot pots is that my hands get uncomfortably hot quickly. And I've tried multiple brands. Perhaps they're safe for high temperatures, but I haven't found them comfortable. Welding gloves work great over a hot grill though when you're not actually touching anything hot.

Different use cases. These silicone mitts are great for handling large cuts. I've been using similar ones for smoking for years. Put them on, flip the ribs, shoulder, whole birds without dealing with tongs or disposable gloves. Really easy to clean them if done soon after.
