The base game is now but previously wasn't. You still have to buy the expansions. I've had it and the season pass since 2014. Put in over 400 hours of game play. A pretty faithful port of the board game. I recommend trying it for free.

They're doing this now for a bit of a brand recognition bump. The new edition of the board game (tabletop) is coming out and they want people to try this and buy the new game.

Also, the board game's 4th edition (revised) has scads of free downloadable characters as free expansion dudes if you look on the fansite:

This game is free to play. It shouldn't be on here. This is not a slick deal. Something that's free is not a deal because that is the base price. There's no haggling involved there is no getting it for cheaper because it's free already. This stuff needs to stop showing up here because it's clogging the site with bullshit.

Saying that you still have to buy the expansions it's like saying you still have to buy the secret pass or coin package or whatever for any free to play game. They're always going to be ways for you to give them money because that's the whole point right? That's how they make their money! This doesn't belong here and it's just a waste of time.

I received an email from Nomad Games today and they are also soon to be releasing the 5th Digital Edition with new artwork revamped rules and sleek and modern redesign lol. Their words. I have a feeling this free to play is to get you hooked and hopefully to buy the new version.

This game has dreadful RNG. Played 20 games and the bots always got useful drops while I never did.
