I used this with a smart switch to return my health insurance back to the previous year's price. The company jacked up the price and had us earn HSA dollars by walking. I bought this fan bent the blades so it wobbled. Attached the fit bit to it, attached a USB to charger to the fan then the fan to the smart switch. Programmed the switch as needed.

FYI if your company does this try turning off location services to their app. If you guessed their app would stop working, you win, but more importantly your company will know what employees hang out with each other, which ones go to Union meetings. I used an old phone created a new account that was only on only that phone and that phone never left the house.

To be clear I quit the company. This was a fortune 300 company.
I thought their post was easy to understand: the employer's new health plan tracks fitness and ties it to the monthly premium cost; they bought the fan, put a Fitbit tracker on a fan blade to simulate walking in order to reduce the monthly premium. Fan is connected to a smart plug for control. Simple.
I use a fan like this to cool an external HD when I am backing a lot of stuff up to it via USB... works well for that except the one I have is really noisy (rattles).

I like this hack.

I bought a variation of this fan (110VAC powered) years ago in-store for my workstation adjacent to my desktop. I'd leave it on for entire shifts, sometimes overnight if I forgot to switch it off. Years later, I brought my workstation home and still flip it on when I need it. Still works just like new. I think it was 2.97 in-store back then, if I remember correctly.

I know this sounds like an ignorant fools to some, maybe you? but I can't understand how this fan relates to your health condition at work. Maybe add more context in between sentences because you got me curious?

Otherwise it fine if you don't want to and I'll just carry on without a follow up reply.

Ah the way you explained it make it crystal clear. Thank you so much for clarifying. I appreciate it.

You know you can just enter the steps manually in the Fitbit app. I have a fitness program at my work too. Virgin pulse.

Ali sells a plastic desk fan that retails about 5 bucks and is better then this type in every way. It has three speeds, runs quieter, and doesn't start to rattle like these metal types.

This is a great fan. Well made, metal blades and fairly quiet. I have this on my desk and it's awesome for the price.

These are excellent little fans. I bought a whole box of them for power outages and I also use them for cooling devices or whatever around the house too. They move a fair amount of air and use very little wattage and can be ran off a small battery pack for quite a long time.

thanks. got me into thinking...plug this fan to my cars USB port. let it blow thru my shorts from 1 leg to the other for some good ventilations.

how much did you pay for that whole box?
