As usual, 95% of Macy's "deals" aren't good and always posted by staff. Definitely a higher % referral partner.
Over the years I've just come to realize Macy's pretty much has no actually good sales. This tracks with the only person I know who regularly shops at Macy's being the literally #1 worst person with her money that I know. I'm convinced that Macy's only existence is grasping onto boomers who still blindly equate Macy's with higher quality and just mindlessly buy their "sales" (at regular prices) or worse buy the shit at full price (is anything at Macy's ever "full price"?).
That being said, obv All Clad is a high quality brand. The price is the only thing in question in this particular instance. But the rest of the store is filled with junk pretending to command a premium price for quality
I literally got the 14 piece copper core set from Macys for $900. Can't beat that anywhere.

What would be a good alternative to this but for someone that wants more, good pots for boiling pasta, rice, sauce, etc., and maybe just one pan?
Pricing wasn't an issue for this one, but my household tends to boil more pasta and rice and mac cheese boxes than any thing else. It's good to have two or three to use at once or in case the others are in the washer.

AllClad is a little overkill for boiling water for pasta. Expensive and the metal covers get too hot to hold with bare hands after the water is boiled. You'd probably be better off Tramontina, they make a nice pasta pot that isn't too expensive. They do have glass lids, but the handles don't get as hot.
But AllClad is nice. Wait for the factory sale and get some pots depending on how much you make at once. The AllClad pasta strainer pot is nice, but very large and annoying to clean. I couldn't imagine having more than one with it's size.

I love the sound of when you close the lids on pot, it makes certain musical sound. Only on All Clad.
Be aware that the aluminum is exposed in All Clad and can get into the food. But certainly not as much as cooking in aluminum pans or pots.

And I literally said 95%. I don't know if that's a great deal for the product or not, but clearly it'd fall in the 5% of so. Just search Macy's here, sort by rating and filter for past 3mo. Nothing great. It's always lukewarm and mediocre.

Pretty sure it's only exposed at the edges/lips of the pans/pots, which usually do not come in contact with food (certainly not long enough to really be a problem), so I wouldn't worry about it

Looks for a "chef's pan", many companies make them.
Oxo makes one for about 40 bucks that's triclad all the way up.

I own all 4 of these, and they are all regularly used and perform very well.

This thing is great, I use it for all the cases you mentioned when I'm being lazy and cooking small.
I stir fry in it from time to time when I don't want to mess around with my wok.
