Appears to get price must click link from slick deals. Tried to get sweetwater to price match and it shows as 3199 on adorama. Sales guy at sweetwater said he would take a loss selling it this cheap and that slickdeals is not trustworthy lol (would not replicate sale through slickdeals)

I got these on slickdeals a week ago…
With tax $2700. I'm thinking you won't find them cheaper anywhere else.

I went with Tama speed cobra for both of those and Tama roadpro snare stand

Seconded. I've had both the Iron Cobra pdals and two-legged stand before going to Pearl Eliminator pedals. Both are fantasic choices!

That's my next problem: figuring out what hardware to buy. I've been without a drum set for decades and getting back into it with this kit. Growing up, I ALWAYS wanted a DW double pedal. Been looking at the 5000 series online (haven't touched anything real yet). On one hand, I figure having not played in so many years, it really shouldn't matter what I get. You have to start with SOMETHING. Something is a step up from nothing! I'm looking on Reverb for used gear. I don't think I need a brand new $600 pedal set, $200 snare stand, and $400 HH. I'll buy a nice new throne though!

Any mid-level hardware will work. You don't need DW 5000 level hardware unless you're touring or gigging heavily, the 3000 double pedal is awesome, got mine for around $300 on sale. I have also had a DW 9000 double pedal in the past. Great pedal but way overkill for the home drummer.

Don't overanalyze the hardware, all the major manufacturers make great hardware, look for a mid-level set of hardware that's on sale and run with it.

For the throne, Roc-n-Soc or the Roland hydraulic throne is also awesome! https://www.roland.com/us/products/rdt-shv/
I actually prefer the Roland because the top is solid vinyl. The Roc-n-Soc is nice too but has a cloth top which is not a good idea if you sweat a lot...

I'm in a similar boat, been out of the game for about 20 years now, but want to get back into it.

I bought into the DW hype when I was younger, had a Collector's Series set, 5000 series pedals, etc. I felt like a boss at the time, but looking back, it was overkill for the type of playing I was doing and my skill level.

I agree with Drummer_Dude: get some decent mid-range hardware and call it good. Focus on playing.

Gilbraltar makes good hardware that doesn't break the bank, hi-hat stands drum thrones etc. Pedals you may want to go to guitar center or somewhere and check them out.
I have the Roc and Soc drum throne like another poster said and I would never recommend it. Granted I have an olider model, but the spacer/washer insert was plastic and cracked, the seat is constantly lowering somehow, it now feels as though I'm balancing on a tightrope cause it sways and my various attempts to fix the spacer have failed.
I have a lower model Roland V-Drum kit you can check out here if you like.

Slickdeals is not trustworthy? lol, I can't believe Sweetwater does so well with their used car salesman approach.

I bought this set from Adorama a couple months ago. It arrived brand new and was a the best price there is. I tried to get a couple "smaller" retailers to price match and the best any could do was $2,850.

If you get a TD-17, you'll spend money on upgrades and wish you'd bought this.
