I just retired a couple of these from a couple of our/friends' houses.
These don't support the high upload speeds from Xfinity nextgen network, which is the best thing to happen in many many years.
Get the Hitron Coda modems if you want, one for $99, or just the Xfinity gateway if you can get for a good enough price.
Then all you need is the lowest Connect tier , 150Mbps/100Mbps download/upload. Typically you get 20% over. And the speeds tend to be rock solid. Why wired always wins, if you can get it.

The DOCSIS 3.0 standard is eighteen years old! It was superceded by 3.1 over a decade ago, and then again by 4.0 in 2017. This is dinosaur technology, I wouldn't accept this modem for free.
I see refurb DOCSIS 3.1 modems on Amazon for $70 right now. Don't spend your money on this e-waste.

None of the robo "tech-support" people in Philippines were any good. Hours spent going nowhere. They can just restart the modem, that's it.
Reddit Comcast/Xfinity forum has some cust.support reps who respond to DMs, is what I hear. But $99 for this was an easy decision for me.
If you get the Xfinity XB8 gateway you might get better support/debug.
