Be aware the show is very little if at all like the books. So if you enjoy the books, stick with just the books and don't get your hopes up.
Huge Asimov fan and the Foundation series is his best. Highly recommend the I Robot series as well. I've had trouble finding his books at libraries anymore. Maybe due to how old they are.

I've been wondering about this. I've…enjoyed the show so far…but haven't read any of the books yet.
How far off would you say the show is vs the books? As in, are they following events/time jumps similarly to the book, there are just differences in maybe which characters are in which events — or are they like WAYYYY OFFFF the script?

The latter. Core ideas and characters (besides the heavy race and gender swapping) are similar, but other than that the show is completely different. Characters and their stories are VERY different. The empire, clones and all that is pretty much its own thing Apple added and the overall story is not very much like the book.
If you completely ignore the books, I thought season 1 was pretty solid, especially the Empire storyline. Season 2 is a bit rough.
To state the obvious, I found the books eons better.

Thanks for the awesome and detailed response!
I'm excited to read the books and I'm glad that I'll get a different (and better) story!

If you use the Libby app you can probably borrow all of them for free, audiobooks too. I had to wait a few weeks for some of them but most were available without a wait.

Haven't read the books, but know a bit about them. Funny enough I thought season 2 was much much better than season 1. But honestly the completely made up Empire genetic dynasty storyline is infinitely better than the half assed foundation line.
