My current LG washer does not pour enough water during washing. Seems like many have complained about the water level issue for various washers. The other days I was looking at all washers in Lowes, noticed that there are some top load washers coming with water level adjustment.
I have a 2007 Whirlpool which the inner tub is rusted. I tried spraying enamel but I most have not done a good enough job getting the rust despite the enamel saying it can go directly on rust. To replace the tub I am looking at $200 just for the part (I can install it myself). That is almost the cost of this washer. I still think that it is worth fixing my old one instead of getting this.
I'm pretty certain he was just trying to explain how it doesn't clean nearly as well because it doesn't have the center agitator, like in the older style basic top load washers and I agree after having "upgraded" our unit.

Another problem with new washing machines is that new "energy efficiency" laws don't allow them to use enough water, so the agitator tears up your clothes as well as leaving them dirty and needing to be washed multiple times.
Since cotton is an incredibly water-intensive crop, these "energy efficiency" regulations waste far more water than they save.
The best washer and dryer to own are anything old enough to have fully mechanical logic. Once every 8-10 years you might have to open up the timer and clean the leaf switches. After 20+ years I had to replace a timer motor, which cost me $60 and took a couple hours. It's probably washed over 5,000 loads during its lifetime and shows no signs of slowing down. In contrast, anything computerized will be junk the instant the supply of controller boards dries up, and they'll usually cost $150+ if you can find one.
