No savings if your current washer still accomplishes the job.
Basic washer sounds great. I don't need Wifi and apps. The washer needs to wash. That's all.
Spin isn't meant to clean your clothes. It's meant to dry. The soap and agitation are meant to clean.

I have a 20 year old conventional simple Whirlpool washer with an agitator in the middle like the good ole days. If BestBuy were to offer $275 for trade-in, making this washer free, I still wouldn't do it. "They just don't make 'em like they used to."

Does it come with water level adjustment ?
My current LG washer does not pour enough water during washing. Seems like many have complained about the water level issue for various washers. The other days I was looking at all washers in Lowes, noticed that there are some top load washers coming with water level adjustment.

It will not clean as well, causing you to need multiple cycles and or rinses. It will then break down repeatedly after the warranty ends. That's how that all are now unless they're not high efficiency regulation compliant

Keep and repair your 20 old washer. These won't last more than 5-7 years. The biggest issue on any washer (exception SQ) would be the transmission and circuit board from what I have been reviewing.

I have a 2007 Whirlpool which the inner tub is rusted. I tried spraying enamel but I most have not done a good enough job getting the rust despite the enamel saying it can go directly on rust. To replace the tub I am looking at $200 just for the part (I can install it myself). That is almost the cost of this washer. I still think that it is worth fixing my old one instead of getting this.
If it's repairable keep it. But you might need this for the interim lol

I can't be 100% sure but,
I'm pretty certain he was just trying to explain how it doesn't clean nearly as well because it doesn't have the center agitator, like in the older style basic top load washers and I agree after having "upgraded" our unit.

It's not..its a rebadged 'Frigidaire', which in turn, is a rebadged Midea machine. I posted the link back a page...the control panel is a dif color, but otherwise the same.

The install reverts to free, but you get charged 34.99 for the washer hoses.

100% truth.

Another problem with new washing machines is that new "energy efficiency" laws don't allow them to use enough water, so the agitator tears up your clothes as well as leaving them dirty and needing to be washed multiple times.

Since cotton is an incredibly water-intensive crop, these "energy efficiency" regulations waste far more water than they save.

The best washer and dryer to own are anything old enough to have fully mechanical logic. Once every 8-10 years you might have to open up the timer and clean the leaf switches. After 20+ years I had to replace a timer motor, which cost me $60 and took a couple hours. It's probably washed over 5,000 loads during its lifetime and shows no signs of slowing down. In contrast, anything computerized will be junk the instant the supply of controller boards dries up, and they'll usually cost $150+ if you can find one.

I went your route. I have an old Kenmore from the 90s and when I removed the agitator, that's when I saw all the rust where the nut holds down the basket. The rust was bad and the nut wouldn't budge even with the special tool. Ended up using an angle grinder and finally replaced it. I kept thinking it would be nice to have a new washer but figured it lasted this long... just keep using it. I don't need fancy buttons with led lights.. I'm cool with knobs. But yeah..i replased the basket and the coupler myself 5 years ago... And it's still running to this day. Do it!
