Doesn't look very wagyu in the pics.
They use default pics for many of their roasts. Check my poorly trimmed pic, you can see the marbling is def there. It's not a5 wagyu, which imo for a roast, is a waste... But, it's more the best ever Prime you seen + 1-2 levels higher... where at a5 is prime + 5 levels (crude analogy).
I don't have about fads. In fact, I wouldn't recommend a5 to anyone, except once to try. I like it, don't get me wrong, but it's not a 20oz 1.5" steak type of meat. it's more like 8oz 1/2 steak that has a great flavor, but just not the same thing

This is crazy...BMS of 8+ (which is A5 level) and the regular price is a hundred dollars more? That's cheap AF even at the regular price ($25/lb). AT BMS 8+, this should be over $1000. I know you're a reputable staff member.... but no pictures of it raw?

Recently, in Texas at least, prices have fell big time for beef, $15/lb for prime ribeye at Costco. Prime filet mignon, usually $35/lb, you can get for $22/lb at Costco.

Edit: @iconian How would you say your marbling compared to this product photo from their website? https://shopchatelfarms.com/produ...4303423653

I did not cut it raw like that, but if you check my trimmed picture, you can see that marbling is comparable if not better. I did buy their wagyu beef ribs that weren't rated at bms 8+, but I think like 4-5 and they were marbled as heck!

It's def not a5, but it's best wagyu I had (I had australian, american like 4-6 types). Obviously, every cow is different, but I also liked hos this was deboned, and trimmed. Not much waste. I even saved the trims, chopped them and boiled for 4 hrs, to render the fat that we used on potatoes Smilie

Do you know if their Wagyu is Akaushi breed? If so it should be pretty tasty. Maybe not the most marbling but supposedly a fantastic flavor.

Edit Nevermind it's right in the description. Guess I'll pick one up! Thanks for posting

I won't lie, I completely missed your raw photo of it originally. Cross section would have been nice but still looks good. I think I'm going to give this a shot, Costco prime is cheaper, but it definitely isn't the best (Costco stuff can taste off sometimes, doesn't matter how marbled it is). If it looks like their "Wagyu Bone-in Rib Roast" product photo in the link I posted above, then it's a good deal in my opinion.

I buy 1-2 big roasts a year.. and last year I got the costco one it was on sale for $300 (it's on a bone, I think).

It was very good too, but I think this is better.. by how much? Impossible to tell, to be honest.... We did have to cook costco 1-2hrs longer due to bone, but that's a small thing...

Good to know, thanks. I will slice mine into steaks and eat 2-3 a week or so. Beef is a cornerstone of my diet.

Our local Piggly Wiggly recently had boneless Angus prime rib on sale for $8.99/lb in cuts of 10# or more. I bought a 16# package, cut into eight 20 oz. steaks and a 6.4 lb roast and it came out perfect. They also had boneless top sirloin for $5.99/lb. I'm not exactly certain why ground beef/chuck prices have hovered around $5/lb of late. Specials arise every now & then but it's remained high.
